Default nimh is a nimh is a nimh??

So I'm charging a pack of Ultra Metals yesterday and one of the cells vents Can I use a Stock Nickel Metal cell to replace the vented cell or does it have to be another Ultra? THANKS

You should be able to do it without problems. You might not get the performance you had with the origional pack though, just try to get the #'s on the new cell as close to the old one as you can.

NO, that won't work. one of my friends tried doing something similar and that pack blew up 2 chargers, it's not a good idea. i can't prove that it won't work all i have is that evidence if you think it's a coincidence, go ahead and try it but i wouldn't.

if someone else (like an electrician or whatever) knows for sure that it would work, please correct me, i speak from experience only

Chances for those cells perform equal, are very low. The result is that at least one cell is under heavy stress, since it dump before the others. And then the pack will die very fast.....

Replace with a equivalent cell, then you'll get a much better result.
