now from what I am reading everyone is saying wait for RS. I am going to try to hook up everything today and see if it works but from people who tried it, or perhaps Tekin will drop a word or two, why dont you like the R1.

Everyone says no no but I see no whys...
Assuming you have updated your R1 with the latest software (180) with the 3.5 and 4.5 there will be no problems at all. The slower the motor the more the speedo will struggle to start.

when you say struggle, are we talking about major problems like going the wrong way etc?? or do we get smoke pouring out of the ESC?

I am not too familiar with Brushless. still alot that I havent figured out yet.

I basically need a stable platform to race without thinging "oh my will it run this time"

It will struggle to start from a standstill. It will certainly not go up in smoke, it will go into thermal shutdown before that.

I just received mine a week ago from RCmarket... I believe he updates the escs before sending them out not sure though... I totally forgot to order the hotwire when ordered the ESC and totally over looked the RS

we were fixed on the R1 Pro so much...

I am assuming it doesnt have problems when the car starts rolling

Its fine when the car is rolling, just hesitates when you hit the throttle from standstill.

Hesitating from stand still is not good for A-Main... with people breathing down your neck on the start line...

damn I wish I hadnt thrown away the box thing that it came with....

Tell me about it. Can't anticipate the start and you are a sitting duck for the cars behind. Such a shame as I find it a great speedy when the car is moving. I wish they had a fix for it.

hopefully they will improve it with further updates on the software. I run low turn motors so I ll see if it runs without problem.

I wonder if they will stop working on it since now they have the RS out and we who bought the R1 would be casualties of Tekin

Default COGGING ISSUES

I have the same problem using the R1 Pro with the speed passion 17 T motor. In the finals, as Jeff said you are a sitting duck, mine goes slighty backwards then takes off like a startled gazelle.

Other than this the speedie is a gem. I may try turning the timing down, had it at about 40%, perhaps that may help, however I think this will affect top end which is about right with a good black can.

They have said any motor that has more than 13 turns and up would benefit greatly having the RS speed control. Anything less than 13 the regular R1 Pro will work fine.

Does this include BL sensorless motors, regarding above statement greater than 13 turns? I am running the Speed Passion BL1 17 t sensorless motor and as said above rolling backwards before launching is not good in the finals. Perhaps I need to get the RS Pro and be done with it.

Speed passion does have a sensorless range ? What type slotted or slotless ?

if your motor is sensorless there is no use if the esc is sensored but investing in a rs is better way to go from what I see.

we run modified all the time so R1 pro, from what I can understand, will be fine...

The R1's work great with mod winds. The newest sofware 180 is the best yet. The slower motors will have the hardest starts.
