Dave, would you know if the HPI TS and Orion Katana TS are the same motor? The only visible difference aside from the color and the sticker are the bushings. The HPI TS has the regular bushings while the Katana TS has the serrated bushings. Both are Top based motors and both have "TS type" stickers on them. Thanks.

This thread should be renamed "ASK DAVE" with the questions we all ask you.

I belive the new Katana ha differnt mags in it and the HPI Rotor is a TOP based one..but I think the New Rotor is a Sagami micro one.?? Because they have the newer style balanceing cuts on the arm .. Have not done any testing of the 3mm core HPI TS..?? Might have to pic one up from my buddy that runs one to test out

Thanks Dave, as always. If you do try out the 3mm HPI TS, please let me know what you think of it.

hey JDM

just wondering... i have an oppurtunity to get ANOTHER 23t hahah

its a MIRAGE Linear of Power motor

would this motor be better than the atlas progress and luna stc-s glory ltd that i just bought???

i'll await your response as i'll do a trade off if its better

the track we run on is fairly flowing... so it doesnt really need GOBS of torque

let me know

thanx

Hmm which version of the Mirage is it.?? red dot yellow or blue..
I belive it is a older version of the Mirage.so it will have a4mm core..but the Yellow dot verion really has a lot of top end and it has laydown brushes..
My favorite Hybrid motor is the Blue Star... really good motor

hey another Q dave. haha sorry

with my luna stc-s... it has a bit of play up wards but not down...

i read that tha magnetic field in motors will usually pull it down if anything... so is there any point in removing the play upwards?? or is it fine as is???

also... the negative hoods on all my 23's have a very SMALL amount of play in them... is it worth TRYING to get rid of all of it by squeezing the hoods carefully with pliers?? i dont have a proper tool so thats my only option really

or is it not really woth the trouble?? there is bugger all play its not like its cocking very far

thanx again
robbie

Ok for all you guys overseas that run 23 turn motors. IF i were to get a case and hand tune them would you be interested? Our Boy Dave is trying to talk me into it but I want to make sure there is enough demand before I plunk out anymore cash!!

Thanks

i suggest you start at 6.3 to 6.5 for a short track. i've tried that gearing an works great.

gearing is very different than the 540.. start with 6.0 and gear fron there up or down a tooth..
