I have a 65 pinion and 76 spur, I run a 56 with an 80 spur on my small indoor track.

guys at snowbirds were trying to run 65 pinion to 65 pinion (on top shaft) at the 'Birds in the sprint class. We'll be seeing more gear reduction in the molded case transmissions soon. i would not be surprised to see a jump to the 4.x range that Associated and Losi (and probably others) already offer in their gas trucks. Just takes a slightly different tranny case mold. somebody will figure it out for the road cars also.

Well here is a stupid question ,why make slower motors (17.5/21.5) then make bigger pinions and smaller spurs to go as fast as the motors before(13.5)?

Haha. I was wondering that too. 13.5 seems slow to me, and I just started racing onroad TC this last Sunday, but I am used to 8th scale buggy racing...

+1. You're right on the money, as usual. 17.5's are for people who can't drive.

The problem is, the spec motors (10.5, 13.5, 17.5 etc) are of different construction and type to the modified brushless motors. If the companies had stuck with the same format for the spec motors as the modifieds, there wouldn't be this ridiculous gearing. There are ways to make a 17.5 motor rev much higher and not produce much, if any, more power. This is what may eventually happen for these classes to be realistic (especially 17.5 and 21.5).

If 1:1 gear ratios are the answer might was well just bolt a wheel to the motor.

All to silly, just bump down the voltage and run a proper motor that rev's higher than 5rpm.

I guess the touring and on road side is catching up to the oval side. We've had PRS pinions all the up to 65tooth for a while. It's all about speed with the slow motors.
