Cool New SPEC. Motor!

O.K. O.K. lets get back on track here! No more "Ambiguous" comments!
I just purchased the new Reedy 19t motor, which will probably be their spec motor for this year. I wondering if anybody has tried it? Anybody? Anybody?
I'm going to try it out tomorrow. First glance the new hex shaped brushes are different. So no more trying other brush combos this year. Plus their back to two magnets instead of the "quad" plus the box shows approx. FDR for different applications. For 1:10 sedan it calls out 6.4 FDR. so this would be more RPM's then torque like the old motor. Lastly, it's funny that the top of the endbell say "Yokomo"! No more made in the U.S.A. for Reedy!

Haven't raced electric in a while, but Reedy motors were always made by Yokomo when I ran them.

Hopefully Reedy incorporates brushless into the spec class...

I had tested this motor about a month ago. It is a very quick brushed motor, actually the quickest one i have tried anyways Its even a tad quicker than the orion element. I ran it in my foam car and was running a rollout similar to the orion which was about 28.8 but cant remember exactly. Also i was able to complete 6 runs on the motor and the brushes/comm did not show much wear, performance did not fall off much either!

The rumor I heard was that the spec class was going to be ROAR-approved brushless motors...not confirmed, just a rumor. I think this would be great, but considering that Reedy just released a new 19T, I could be wrong.

My guess would be that the spec class would use either their new 27T or 19T motors. It would be good for them to get some advertising and get people familiar with them.

Just my 2c.

From the way the new 19T spec motor looks compared to other motors it might be a little more expensive. I imagine this would make entry $ go up. I think it would be logical to promote brushless as they will probably sell more in the future.

First race with a controlled brushless motor ? ? ? ? ? ?

Would be an interesting concept, something a certain race promoter seems VERY good at doing......

Shame its a few thousand miles from me Hopefully we'll have a Euro Reedy this year in the UK
