You are going to be one happy chappy

I do recommend you start with the recommended FDR of 7.3:1. My brother and I use this for our cars and find the ESC and motor temps to be very good and the performance just awesome

Enjoy

Hi Matt,
The Novak SS Brushless system has both unlimited modes and a Limited Mode.
The Unlimited Mode is similar to a Low turn Modified Motor and the sport mode is comparable to a stock motor.
So you have a choice. You can also have reverse or not in each mode.

The Novak brushless System sells in Australia for around $500AU.

The brushless system can be set for different performance via the esc. The esc can limit the motor so it feels like a stock motor and it can also have the motor feel like a 10 turn motor. You probabely won't be allowed to run the brushless system in stock since it has more punch (or so I hear) but you should be allowed to run it in mod. If your just bashing then you can just leave it with the unlimited setup(feels like a 10turn).

Precisely

Also be prepared to retune your cars steering geommetry as it carries a lot more speed into the turns especially with a front one way fitted. You need to dial in a lot more off power steering if you have a front one way. This is because the Brushless motor has minimal drag when the throttle is backed off and the car just keeps rolling on. With a brushed motor you have a reasonable amount of drag brake effect in the motor which takes off a lot of speed when the throttle is released.

All in all the brushless system is awesome and good value for money as far as I'm concerned.

The brushless system is complete. It includes the ESC, Motor, wires etc.

For more Information I suggest you read the Brushless ststem thread or go to http://www.teamnovak.com
You will get all the basic Info from these sources. You can even download the Brushless Manual on the Novak site and read reviews on it...

Matt,
do you race at Castle Hill or Eastern Creek ?
If so, come and talk to Coxy and myself about the cars and electrics, we both race all you have been asking about and are willing to show you the cars and answer your questions.
Coxy races the TC3 with Hacker Brushless,
I race the T1R with Novak Brushless.

The Novak BL in the T1R is a quick combo, I have found like other motors, play around with the gearing to get the best for each track (personally think the motor performs more like a 12t)
The best part is not having to work on the motor.
The worst part is when you hit reverse and back the car into your bare foot at 100 mph (OUCH shouldn't play with that)
word of warning don't try to reset the speed control if it is driving the motor, hold the radio trigger in the neutral position for the speedo before you hit the button.(no motor drive)
Later versions have protection to stop a blow up occuring
