When I want to use Launch Control, I hold my radio's trigger at full brake for about 7-8 seconds (1001, 1002...) to assure that it is active. It works!

Depending on the situation, I likely only use LC half the time.

A burst of power at the start of a race from an LRP ESC...YOU definitely don't need it; but, I can show you on Sunday. No use for most off-road stuff in my mind.

It is 5 seconds; but, I added in a margin for error. Sorry I didn't say anything about that!

Hey John, make sure your Cyclone's diff is tight enough especially on high traction surface before you try the launch control!

Absolutely essential BEFORE using Launch Control. I hate them squealing diffs.

Thanks EJ.

i think it stores some power in the cap when you hold the brakes down.... then when you release the cap gives a little bit more power at for may 3 seconds.... i have used it at club meetings with some good success..

You're not talking about the cap that comes wired into the speedo are you? If you are, absolutely no chance!! That cap wouldn't store enough power to flick the motor, let alone boost a 120amp start.

It's more likely that the speedo will eliminate the ramp up on the throttle. This is an old trick used on BR speedos for years - when in launch control, full power is applied in the first 5% of stick movement, and held for about one second.

There might be a variation on that theme that a BL can play with the phases and the timing, but in principle that's the best way to get a fast start. HTH

I haven't read the manual in a while but I think it does say that once the LC is activated the extra power is there until the throttle is released.

I'm pretty certain that your explanation is correct. There's no magical extra power, just full power as soon as you touch the throttle.

Has anyone tried the SPX with a modified motor. I believe it is rated to 5.0? I am interested trying it in 1/12 with single cell lipo but I don't want to blow it up.

If they haven't it's probably because it serves little purpose, the thing that makes the spx better than a tc is software super high timing advance ( great for stock class), something you don't need/want in mod touring, maybe 1/12 though
