Default What servo for a touring car?

I need a new servo for my new TA-05R. I had a JR Z590m servo...and worked great. I need something in the $50 and under price range. I was looking at the JR servo again...or the Futaba S3152 digital sport BB, but it doesn't have metal gears. I'm going to make an order monday(Im racing on the 1st)...and any opinions are great. Thanks for the help

the Futaba 9550 is pretty popular. It's about $80 new but you can get them for around $50 used. Great servo for the money.

I heard that was a good servo. I'll have to look into that one. It may be a little expensive right now...considering I dropped $300+ on my new car. If anything...I was going to get the cheaper digital servo from Futaba for the time being...and upgrade when I can actually get hours at menards in the summer

I guess that's why Towerhobbies doesn't have it in stock.

I have a Airtonics 94257 and a Futaba S3010 that was in my Xray TC. PM me if you want either.

In the price range cited, the JR 590M is a decent choice. Depending on the BEC in your speedo it should be in the mid-teens for transit time. That's fine.

I'm running a Novak GTB...so Im sure it will fine too. Is the servo digital? Horizon says in the info "Digital steering precision for the sport driver, or those on a sport driver budget". If it is...it is a better deal than the Futaba servo I listed above.

And keep your eye on RCTech.net Classifieds...$50 should be doable.

After much thought...I'm going to go new. I need something this week, and I can count on the tower/horizon. Plus, I'm not too worried about this servo, as I will probably upgrade to the new Futaba S9551 when it comes out. I would like to go digital...so if the JR servo is digital, I will get it. If not, I think I will go with the S3151. Also, Futaba also has teh S3152...which is high torque.

Specs for:
S3152 .18 and 87 oz-in
S3151 .17 and 54 oz-in

JR .15 and 85 oz-in....but digital?..does it matter?

The 590 is not digital. The differences between analog and digital are small in terms of performance. Differences that might be revealed only in foam sedans or 1/12th scale driven at a high level of competence. That might be you, it might not. Only you know. I have used the 590M quite a lot, and also a 9550. I will admit the argument between the two has proven to be the least of my concerns.
