Before I start - I apologise for bringing up an oldish thread.

I have been looking at getting a Pro 3. Now, i dont know much about them, but i really like its design. I like how the battery is positioned in the middle.

I have posted in the WTB section before, but is any1 willing to sell me a Pro 3?

Is there anywhere that still sells the 'Hara' chassis? I have found the 73814 chassis, which ill be happy with that, but i wouldnt mind the hara. Also, how many different graphite/carbon main chassis' are there?

Are Pro 4 parts (arms, hubs and knuckles) interchangeable with the Pro 3? I wouldnt mind fitted some alloy knuckles and C-Hubs.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and sorry again for bringing up an old thread. Cheers...

Hmm you'd be lucky to find anyone that still sells a spare chassis for a Pro 3....
There were officially (HPI-manufactured) four types of chassis for the Pro 3: the standard tub, graphite-injected tub, woven carbon-fiber tub, and the woven carbon-fiber "rail" chassis (the one that you found). I think the Hara came with an aftermarket Hot Bodies chassis kit (along with the Hot Bodies upper deck, and the Hot Bodies three-piece heatsink motor mount...I think the full name was HPI Pro 3 Atsushi Hara Hot Bodies Edition)...and it was a Japan-only kit to begin with. I haven't seen one for sale in ages...

No, the Pro 4 parts aren't interchangable with the Pro 3. The Pro 3's arms are bespoke...mainly due to having such wide diffs (they need to accomodate the pulley being so down low on the chassis). I think all the suspension parts are bespoke, actually. The main problem I have with that car is the slop on it...unbelievable. Makes me wish HPI continued the development of that thing instead of settling on a more conventional approach...

Here's something I found while browsing around. I believe that the car is still for sale, and its been a display car all this time.

Its a Hara Edition Pro 3!

a little pricey..
but the Pro3 was one of the best cars I've ever driven.
I wish I still had my Hara version...

I have always wanted a Pro 3 since they came out. Now im looking for a chassis that has good balance. i've always liked the pro 3 for the fact that the batt slot and motor are in the middle, making balancing the chassis alot easier.

Im wanting a pro 3 for drifting only. i have seen almost every other chassi drift, except the pro3!

Yup...it has really good left-right balance. But the problem with the normal (plastic) chassis and the graphite tub chassis is that it's really difficult to keep a Platinum Lipo from moving around, and any side-by-sides made from cells bigger than 3300s are difficult to put in as well. The other annoying bit about the Pro 3 is that the diffs get gritty really quickly...no dirt seal. I drift mine a bit, and yeah...it's a pretty good drifter imo. Changes direction much more easily than other TCs...

Thumbs up other alternatives...

I think the JRX-S would be ideal for drifting since it has a front mounted motor (not like the TA-03) and has a centered battery layout. But the HPI Pro3 is still a nice car... I had it and was happy with it's handling and it's low CG. It was perfect for street racing with friends. I hear that the TA-03F is also great for drifting based on the same concept of a front motor design. I think you will still be happy with a HPI Pro 3 for the fun of it...they were pretty durable in it's day. Too bad I sold mine too...

I apologize profusely for bumping such an old thread, but does anyone know of anywhere (besides eBay) that may still have hop-ups for this car?

I'm looking for an aluminum battery brace and aluminum steering knuckles specifically...
