- .020 Front springs
- Blue side springs, 20WT
- Blue center spring, 30WT
When running 13.5 Boosted, the car is better soft.
- .018 Front springs
- Black side springs, 30WT
- Silver or Blue center spring, 30WT
Is anyone else seeing this?

Also what are you struggling with? grip? side bite? accel?

I've found that when running "Blinky", 17.5 or 13.5, that my car runs better stiff.

It's all about feel, and making the car consistent over 8 mins.
I tune for track and tires, more-so than motor.
Not everyone likes the same setup, heck, I've never even thought about running drag brake in blinky , whatever works for you is the right setup.

i think its more of a convenience thing. always having to replace the o rings in the stock shocks is a pain. especially when you want to tune at the track. also the stiction if you dont! im thinking of trying speed merchants damper tube conversion along with hb shock!
I just got a chance to test out the damper tube conversion last weekend for the first time... Jury is still out.

It doesn't help that "stock" specific set-ups are very rare for most cars.
The drag brake thing came from Terry Rott (while him and Andrew Knapp proceeded to have a screaming match about DB vs. push control). It works really well for certain sections, but takes a different driving style. You need to learn to keep the car slightly on throttle for some turns instead of the usual on/off style that is prevalent in blinky.
But the work is worth it for the look on the competitions face when you go mega-deep into a turn at the end of the sweeper!

Where can I find this conversion? I would like to try this next weekend at the prairie knights race.
Thanks!

question why did u use losi oil and ae oil.. its2.5 wt diff.. so if u used 27.5 losi it would of been25 ae? or do u feel something different?
Thanks Paul, you're too kind.
Here is my standard set-up, which is just a variation of the common AE set-up. Don't be afraid to run big tires for club racing. I regularly start at 44.5mm for rears with a 2mm split.
The only thing that I do that is a bit abnormal (on the car) is run heavier side oils than most and use drag brake.
Important thing I forgot; I run the side springs with just a slight bit of pre-load at ride height. About a turn down from touching. To be honest my car hardly ever sees a tweak station.
For tuning I always start with front camber, and then tire treatment. Otherwise, not much needs to be changed for most conditions.
If things start getting "weird" I head right to the basics and freshen them up; front springs, side dampener, front kingpin dampening, and diff.
Thanks,
Mike Slaughter

any reviews/opinions for the speed merchant damper tube conversion? is there an alternative? looks like the on point method would be pretty extensive.
