Thanks Sean. Is it the same setup you posted a page or two back?

Yes, but I double checked everything for accuracy and may have made a couple of little changes.

They just informed me there is some kind of maintenance going on the database so the set-up sheet will be delayed getting posted. Sorry.

When is the New Associated 12R5 World Champion Edition coming out? The improvements are very nice on this car.

The Yokomo parts are available, although back-ordered, through RC market. This is just the spring retainers and the cross-member mount though.

Just for fun. I didn't have the guts to cut up one of my BL pod upper plates which is why the upper plate isn't wide enough to reach the motor plate. It does allow me to mount the body a touch lower with out any fear of the upper plate rubbing anywhere. Its nice being able to run the wires lower as well . . .

I drilled a hole in one of my standard width upper plates, mounted the shock using the spring retainer set screw, and secured the set screw previously used to mount the center shock with a nut.

Default few things

just ordered an RC12R5 kit yesterday and i have a few questions.

are the SMC lipos (3.7v) the only ones available for this class atm?

and, do all the shims that people are using throughout the car come in the kit? if not where do you buy them from?

also, springs? does the kit just come with one set or all the different options so you can tune the car straight out of the box.

i only ask cause i am in Australia and i buy most of the stuff out of America, so if i wait for the kit to arrive and then have to buy other bits i'll have to wait another 3 weeks or so till i have it all together.
thanks
Alex

SMC and ThunderPower are the only two currently available.

The kit comes with all the ride height shimss you'll need, but you may need 1/4" axle shims and 1/8" kingpin etc shims for some of the more detailed adjustments. As well as any shims you may or may not use in the front end to widen the track width at the arm.

You will likely want to order the AE center spring set and a pair of all the side springs. You only get one pair of side springs and one center spring in the kit.

The Reedy 3.7v Lipo will be out by August for all those that might be interested in one, should be a 40c pack and as good or better then anything else out there on the market!

Cool,
thanks for all the info. where do you buy the springs from? i had a look on ebay and tower hobbies but can only find a few side springs, no centre spring sets. also the shims, can you buy a set that has heaps of different sizes or do you have to find them all seperate?

last thing, do you need to true down tires with the 1/12 class. i'm used to nitro where the tires get chewed out real quick so they would be trued to get another run out of them. but i see the pan cars dont have the 2-3 degree toe in that the nitros use.
thanks again
Alex

Sean, your setup and some others show 'pink' for the front tires. i presume this is just shorthand for '2xpink'?
thanks in advance for sharing
