I like it as just GT1 bodies for now.

As for Power, 13.5/4 Cell is a good starting point. 17.5/Lipo sounds like a good second class for GTP 235mm as there are not a whole lot of GTP bodies out for 200mm these days

Just my 2 cents.

Dale, I just put on one of your new "GT1" bodies and got to say it works really well. Can't wait for the new 200mm GTP and trying a new Sophia!!
Just a couple of questions:

How comparable are the 4 cell/13.5 - LiPo/17.5 on the track?
Why would the LiPo/17.5 setup be more appropriate for 235mm setups?

In my opinion 4 cell 13.5 and 17.5t lipo are not compatible.
17.5t lipo will run like a 4 cell 10.5t.
I would think 21.5t lipo would be better with 4 cell 13.5t.

The last couple posts are what I think could keep WGT from really exploding into a big class. You have all these different people with all their ideas of what they would like to see but that isnt what we need...what we need is a united front across the board gettign behind what has already been laid out but Scotty and his boys and the boys in Cleveland. I do not think having a LiPo option is a bad idea (as teh VTA boys have shown it can be done) but we need to come up with a single workable Lipo option powerplant set. If I was running this show Id talk to a track about testing out 17.5 and 21.5 with LiPo and then putting that on the program and letting it run. We cant be bickering and talking about "well I dont like that...I like this." This is a hobby for many of us and we cant get caught up in stupid mindless bickering.

I gotta agree here. I have been running mine with Saddle Pack 4000mah 7.4 lipo & 17.5 and it is much faster than the 4-cell 13.5 option. I will be putting a 21.5 as soon as I can get my hands on one. We dont have this class up and running here yet, Im just doing some ground work for it.

I agree here also. At some point there must be some unity here. I think it will happen at some point. However, I also feel that without lipo, this class will not grow.

I do not represent the club, as these are my opinions. I'm not bickering, but pointing a view to get this racing to grow.

My point has been and will be based on a club with 60 racers. We had 26+ racers at the '08 Carpet Nationals, so a very active club. 2/3 to 3/4 of the members are tired of cells, me included, the equipment ... the new batteries ... the process.

If you want this to grow, look at VTA and learn.

I have a lot of respect for Sean and his thoughts, and I do have 25+ years in the hobby as racer, hobby shop owner and track operator. So I understand making a level playing field and making the hobby fun. This is the only thing that will help grow this hobby / sport.

But with two or three cars that are set up only for 4cells, should not keep others for embracing newer technology that appeals to more racers.

Come up with the rules, but make them open to the most racers possible. In the mean time, we'll play with the 17.5 and 21.5 lipo. Heck we even want 235 cars to come and play. At some point, we'll get them to try the 200mm car on the carpet and save the 235 for the pavement.

I have two identical cars set up and the 17.5/lipo is currently 0.20 fast lap better than my 13.5/4 cell. The average time is better in the 13.5 car but it does not move through traffic as well. I'm not happy with the brakes and response in the 13.5, so I'm working on it, and have even purchase an additiona ESC to see if that helps. I understand that the 13.5 needs some timing in it to work well.

My last point is based on the largest group of pan car racers out there ... Oval. This side of the hobby has fully embrased brushless and is now doing the same with lipo. I was told today that one track was asked by the oval camp to inlcude the lipo and 21.5 brushless for WGT, as it fits the equipment that they have. Once again opening it up to more racers.

Hi just a little Video from the German PRO10 Championship A-Final held in Burgdorf on a very small track, the Laps where about 11,5 sec.

We where running LiPo's 7,4 Volt with about 5000 - 5400mAh and 4.5 - 5.5 BL Motors

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8ivIhZGjFg

Now the indoor racing will start and I will try this slower class as well once just to compare, but I belive we will stick to the LiPo's and maybe try a slower Motor for indoor maybe a 9 turn.

How about this:

World GT=13.5/4 cell GT1 spec bodies (AR8C/Sophia GT, Maserati MC12 GTS/ Gianna GT, Corvette C6, Toyota Supra, Nissan 350Z, Dodge Viper GTS-, Lamborghini Murcielago, Pagani Zonda F, Saleen S7R, Aston Martin DBR9)

World GT2= 21.5/LiPo, GT2 spec bodies (Porsche 911, Mazda RX-8, Ford Mustang GT-R)

I'll figure out my idea for GTP after a good nights sleep

Lotus
what exactly do you mean with slower class? For the Bawue-Cup I think motors/batteries are unlimited also. Or do you talk of another series also?
Are you going with a 200mm car for indoors or your Hatzenbach?

Hmm, are US tracks really that small? I have run 9.5T on smaller/slippery tracks here what really is easier to drive. I also have seen once running some guys 13.5T but with Lipo as always and this is very slow. OK for indoors I can imagine this. But I think you canīt buy a BL motor below 13.5T here.

Yes thats right, in the BaWue-cup we keep things open, but I'm still would like to test a setup like the GT10 Class. I'll convert my Hatzenbach LC10 08 to the 200mm spec and make some tests.
Bye the way, last time in Althengstett my friends where running CRC's with a 13.5 turn BL and the had fun. And i belive the would of been frustated with somting faster then that because then it gets tricky with setup and tire's....

There is a small but very nice Indoor track closed to where I live, so I'm going to try to make following tests this Winter

7,4 LiPo => 13.5
7,4 LiPo => 9,5
7,4 LiPo => 6,5 with 12mm rotor
4cell => 9,5
4cell => 6,5 with 12mm rotor
A123 6,6 =>

of course allways with the same Body, but setup adjusted accordingly. that will be fun :-)

We do not have a lot of wide flowing electric tracks in the US. Maybe in Europe you can bolt in a 10.5 or lower and unleash the beast but I think that right now with the class in its infancy I think keeping the speeds down will keep the fun factor up and could draw more people in. One thing with Vintage Trans-Am here in the states is that people got interested first with the recognizable bodies, and then they saw that the racing was close and the speeds were not too overwhelming and so they got out and got into the class. You dont want people to be discouraged out of trying a class because they wouldnt be able to run for the win pretty quickly.
