Default roar and or ifmar

hey all: Will the gt10 or worlds gt class what ever they are calling it now be added to the roar nats. and or ifmar worlds race along side 12th and 10th sedan we already have? It would be like old times when 10th pan car dominated on road racing. Just my thoughts thanks

I think if all goes well and clubs can agree on what to run, you will start to see the class evolve and take off. It looks we will see it run at alot of the major carpet races this year with 4 cell being the rule for batteries along with probably 13.5 being the brushless motor. There is alot of varying options between alot of the cars out right now being that there seemed to be a lack of guidelines. You will see them vary from running 4 cell, 6 cell, lipo, 200mm, 225mm, 235mm and a large assortment of bodies that cant be run together such as GTP and GT. Once the dust settles and rules are in place, all of the gimic and nonsense that is stalling the class right now will fade away and people can start racing the cars. It seems that the cars are selling great but racing seems to be numb. Clubs are trying to figure out what to run as far as motor, batteries, bodies and track widths. 200mm seems to be sticking being that the majority of the cars are 200mm. Batteries right now seem to be the biggest dilema. In time everyone will find what works best for them. Rules will be set and racing will grow. I just hope that everything can get figured out before 1/10th pan cars go into hibernation again.

I would love to see this class take off, but the noise about the batteries is an impediment. I've seen a CRC Pantoura converted to 200mm run at my track (Seattle Indoor Raceway.) It had a 17.5/lipo setup, and in my opinion looked ridiculously fast. The driver is one of our local wheels, so it was given a fair demonstration. All the same, I had no interest in driving it in a race, and I don't think any of the twenty or so other guys watching felt differently. In my opinion, you have to be driving on a BIG track to make a lipo setup work with a full field of racers.

Has anyone pursued the 380 size brushless motor option to pair with lipo batteries?

That is very true. The higher voltage makes the car borderline undrivable for most people. Unless you are running on an extremely large track that has super wide lanes and insane traction, it will be a handfull. Running a 21.5 may make it a little more user friendly. And to think that some people want to run 3.5 and 4.5 with lipo. Our tracks down here are WAY too small for that kind of power. It makes me wonder if that is even fun to drive. If i tried to drive a 3.5 and lipo on our local 1/8th track, I would maybe be able to goose it for a second down the straight but thats it. That tells me that i have too much motor. 4 cell with a 4.5 is much faster on the same track because the power is usable.

A good starting point for BSR tires is 2.225 to 2.250.
For front tires use Team Purple or xxpurple.
For rear use pink or xxpink.

My front compounds from softest to firmest in pink/purple family are:
pink-25
xxpink-30
purple-35
team purple-38
xxpurple-40
These are shore ratings and will differ from your durometer readings slightly.

I am from the oval community and we also need a slower brushless motor than the 21.5 for lipo batteries. Maybe this class can help generate the interest along with oval that a 25.5 motor is needed and some of the brushless motor manufactures will step up and make us one.

I agree with you John. We have several oval and on-road racers here at Summit Raceway that will not give up their Lipos and an even milder motor would definately be a plus for both. Dale

I think I have something that might work to make everybody happy:

We obviously have the two camps, one for LiPo and one for 4 cell. I say go 4 cell/13.5 (kind of a GT1 category) and have a LiPo/21.5 category (kind of a GT2 category) GT1 can be for the Mustangs, Vipers. and Corvettes (oh my) and GT2 you can have like Aston Martin DBR9, Ferrari F430 and cars like that.

Well with Protoform re-releasing the P905B, I think there is a definite possibility that we could see 235mm working its way back as well as the rise of 200mm. If WGT/GT10 can keep growing, it can only benefit 235mm as well and maybe in the next couple years if 10th pan continues to grow we could have an event for them. Right now though I think we need to get these poweplant things worked out. I see that at the IIC they are running 13.5 with 4 cell but I think that some sort of allowance for LiPo even if it means a motor that isnt as hot so we dont end up with GT land missiles. I do like having GT1 (4 cell/13.5) and GT2 (LiPo/21.5) I know its early but I think that a proactive move like that can only help things out.

what are the other two protoform bodies, not the corvette?

if the clues dropped on other sites are accurate and their alfa c8 and mosler 900's that'd be sweet.. i'd also like to see a saleen s7,
