GLad to hear your getting good perforance out of our 4000 pack. It's normal for the temperature of our packs to stay cool as our packs have a tue 28C rate. If your running in limited motor classes you may want to look into heating the pack up prior to using it on the track. This will give extra voltage.

Hey Danny I've been waiting for my 5000 pack to arrive at my LHS for a couple months now, do you know when the new shipments will arrive in the SF bay area hobby shops?
Also, what would I have to purchase if I wanted to balance my pack? How is it different that an Orion pack?
Thanks.

We have been shipping out packs to our distributors. Our packs are in such high demands and we have increased our orders with our supplier to hopefully get backorders filled out faster.

If your local shop is up on the backorder list with the distributors I would say he should get them anyday now.

For balance charging you can use an Equinox blancer by ElectriFly(Great Planes). If you already own a balancer you maybe able to get adapters to use it.

I'm not sure what you mean by how different is it than Orion packs ?

He may be referring to the different connectors on each, since the Orions use that tiny bullet plug between the bigger bullet connectors on their packs & your packs have the more standardized balance plug. And on that note, if Slokomo hasn't bought a LiPo charger yet, a good choice might be one that charges & balances, like the Core UDC-20 that I have, for example. It really is a perfect match for it, balance plug is EXACTLY what the charger uses(so it plugs right in, no adapters needed), it does a VERY good job charging & balancing, & I got mine at Nexxus Racing for about $95, I think it's a GREAT deal for what it does.....

TQ and a win in 10.5 at Norcal Hobbies using SMC 5000 packs. I don't run for SMC but I figured I'd post results.

Grizzbob - yes I was referring to the different balancing plugs on the Orions as opposed to the SMCs. I already have a Duratrax ICE. I think that charger balances..it should for what I paid for it.

The ice does not balance, but you can get a charge through balancer for it.

Thats the trakpower which is wired for orion and trakpower packs but I think you can put an adaptor on it for the smc balancing plugs since it is the same as the flightpower balancer such as this...http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXRWF6&P=ML
I do not own a smc pack yet so I cant tell you what fits exactly.

You can use the ElectriFly Equinox balancer from Great Planes. It uses the same balance plug that comes with our packs.

I reccomend you get the high power adapter for it as this will allow you to charge at 5 to 6 amps. You can easily concert the 2S harness that comes with it to be just like the high power harness.

In some of the other Lipo threads I see some racers are confused when it comes to Lipos and there performance.

Here are a few things I have figured out and learnt about Lipos.

The mAh rating of a pack and it's C rate will have an impact on the voltage and IR of the pack. If you take our 4000 and 5000 pack which both have a 28 C rate the 5000 will have better IR and higher average voltage due to the pack being bigger.

The materials used and the way the Lipos are manufactured will also have an impact on the performance of the pack.

When testing a Lipo pack on the T35-GFX the packs that have lower IR and higher average voltage will run better on the track. Some seem to think that testing Lipos at 35 amps on the GFX isn't the correct way of testing Lipos for performance. So far I have tested many packs using the GFX and results on the track prove that testing on a GFX is a good way of testing Lipos.
