A 4000 mAh Li-Po will yeild better longevity and performenvce over a lifetime if never taken more than 3200 mAh's out of it! Discharging them to full capacity is NOT recomended. But It's not my house burning down either....
Puffy Li-Po's are a bomb waiting to go off! Mark my word! I'd rather race than eat, but not worth losing everything over. No B.S., no sponsored propaganda.... They are fast... Didnt any one read that part ?

They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.They are fast.

OK!? GEEZ

When testing Lipos for C rate our performance you need to discharge it down to 6 volts to get the info. What your reffering to is Depth of Discharge(DOD) and yes some manufacturers reccomend not to go below 80%. I think that Lipos have been evolving with better materials being used so maybe what use to be isn't anymore. In some of my testing I have noticed a drop in capacity and in some case the IR going up when keeping the packs stored with storage charge. It seems that the more storage charge you keep the pack with the more it has an impact but if you read what is reccomended you should keep 50% storage charge. All this info is based on the packs being used in high end racing wherew every bit counts or the racer thinks that every bit counts.

I'm 44, I've raced for almost 30 years now. I've won more races than most people have been to. I have a BSEE, and a 6 yr. old that has more respect than you! The ignorance is in the mind of the receptor!

#1, this is racing. Most racers don't care if they push their batteries hard that they will not last as long. As long as they're being used safely(not being charged above recomended current, not being over discharded), it's a non-issue. Right now, the evolution of batteries is moving faster than the cycle lives of the batteries we're using.

#2 if you're using more than 80% of a battery's capacity in a run then you bought the wrong battery and if that's the case, then you didn't ask Danny first. He would've told you what capacity you needed, honestly.

$3 John, If you have a BSEE, do yourself a favor and write like an educated person. It doesn't take that much effort. I'm pretty surprised that you completed a college degree without understanding the difference that intelligent communication makes.

Mabye you should try drinking something with alcohol in it. Works better than "alcahol".

I'd like to recommend the use of the ignore list with this guy. It's working fairly well for me, the only problem is when others respond to his troll posts they end up fouling my screen as well.

OMG.. correct my spelling .. im so insulted. And i didnt have to ask danny either.. Open up you eyes.. no one seems to realize what angle not angel from which i am comming from. .and perhaps you would care to correct my grammer and punctuation as well..
wheres the finger on here anyways ?
its not a capacity issue .. i merely remarked about the method of testing for the "C" rating . As for any one else that cares to comment .. please go back and read all of what was said and not just the last 2 or 3 posts before admitting your lack of inteligence or your un-researched correspondence . and i dont care how you spell or say tires or tyres if you are from england, australia or even iowa. I didnt try to start any s**t or whatever ppl are thinking but perhaps everyone is so far up somewhere thay cant see any light! truth is most of you couldnt tell the difference anyways.... So leave me alone.

No one is emailing you or calling you on your phone therefore you are being left alone. It is you coming on this thread posting all kinds of challenges and insuations that are unimportant to racers. I think I understand what angle you are coming from but I don't get why?

Oh, it's "grammar", not "grammer". Where did you go to school?

Today I did some testing on cycle numbers on a heated pack versus a pack that isn't heated. The reason why I did this test is that I saw the numbers posted on the TP40C pack thread and the guy who cycled them happens to heat them prior to discharge. I did test this a long time ago and noticed it improved the numbers hence why racer do this when allowed.

I took our 24C/5200 pack to do the test. I used 10 amps to charge and attached the voltage sensing leads on the packs 12 gauge power leads right where the Deans connector is soldered.

Non Heated with a pack temp of 72 degrees: 529 - 7.38 - 6.1

Heated to 103 degrees: 533 - 7.45 - 4.2

Heated to 150 degrees: 538 - 7.50 - 3.4

As you can see it's fairly easy to get the numbers to be different just by changing the temp of the pack. Thought this info could be helpful as it's important to know these things when trying to compare numbers.

Those are some good looking numbers from a sport pack. I think I am going to order one this week for some offroad racing.

Thanks Danny for the info.

Oh and could you perform that same test on a 5000 pack?
