The Roar Lipo rules have size specs
Under Maximum size they list

"Height 25.1mm +0 / -3mm" ie minimum size would be 22.1mm

But the approved SMC 4000's are 20.5mm am i reading this wrong????

You're just reading too much into it, that's just the tolerance for the MAXIMUM height, there is no real minimum that I've heard of(otherwise, I think they'd mention a specific minimum)....

Was thoroughly thrilled with my two SMC 5000 packs at the IIC.

Really glad that Jeff Cuffs had tested the 5000 in his Phi and told me to head in that direction. Worked great for both Amateur and 13.5.

Thanks to Danny and Jeff.

Me too. Heated the packs within the rules and had great power.

Thanks Danny

def did last update was the 24th, and the packs where due the end of the month, and a 2-3 day delay, was wondering how stuff was, so instead of being counter productive, please keep the responses "related"

The test pack is still running strong. No problems at all. Pack never has been over 100 degrees after a run. That's with a 6.5 brushless.

Everyone I know uses an electric heating pad that is available from local drug stores for less than $20. I think mine was made by Sunbeam.

It is folded over once (to surround the packs in heat) which fits perfectly into my "Lipo Safe" bag. Only use the lowest heat setting to get the packs to 125 F which usually cools to below 110 F within about 5-10 minutes.

The IIC allowed no more than 110 F at their race. So, that should be a "safe" call on the max temp...

Does heating the lipo packs make any difference in performance? I haven't yet tried it but want to. But first I would like someone to chime in with their real world experience.
