Again, it is not a huge drop, it is like losing the peak on a nimh cell.
I would ask a friend to lend you a speed control our put your pack in there car and drive it.

2 cents here. I found that about 20 charges in, my lipo really came to life. Maybe time is the cure here?

130 is too hot for an ESC with a fan. Mine ran 105-110 all race day with no fan and a 6.5.

If you are drawing amps off of any battery the voltage is going to drop. During a discharge cycle my packs will stay at 8.0-8.1 volts for at least 30 seconds but the majority of an average 412 second discharge is spent in the mid 7 volt range ie:7.7-7.2. As a matter of fact it's on the case that came with your smc lipo, typically a 4000 will have an average of 7.3v at a 35 amp discharge. Every battery you run is going to have that initial "top" on it you cannot avoid that fact, but yes it will quickly go away.

Yes voltage will drop as with any other type of battery but I don't think it should be as noticeable as the sub-c cells as the IR of Lipos stays very consistent throughout the discharge. In fact if the pack starts cool the IR should get better as it heats up so the power should stay very consitent.

Maybe what were seeing here is just a simple case of what is noticeable for one racer isn't as noticeable to an other or it could be speed control related.

Not doing Vegas. I wasn't going to do any big racing for 08 but then the Reedy fell in my lap and now the KO race is here too. I will be playing in the dirt this winter and may try one off road race next year.

The SMC 4000 fits perfect without any mods. The 5000 will need to shim the top deck .5-1mm so that it will fit.

I run the 4000 and love it.

I cant wait to get the new top exiting wires for my offroad truck as well.
