Danny,

Does this Hyperion include the right harness for the SMC lipos? Or which optional harness is needed? Thanks again.

You will need the JST-XH adpater board. I believe it costs 7 bucks.

Danny,

I have a question about using two of your batteries in an E-Revo, would it be best to try and find two packs with close numbers ?( ie: discharge time, voltage, i.r.) or would it not make much of a difference ?

i know about the cut off confusion already and have switched to a novak hv maxx controller and purchased a 14.4 capable external cutoff, which will be wired directly through the esc.

if any one else is interested..traxxas had originally recommended utilizing 2 separate cutoffs wired to the batteries...which basically just caused the speedo to short out and cook the lipos...novak has much more info on this if you call them they'll explain everything you noeed to do to avoid this using lipos in the new erevo with brushless or brushed

If you plan on charging the packs individually you don't need to worry about the numbers being the same. Where you buy the packs if they have more than a few in stock it's not a bad idea to look at the numbers to try and find 2 with similar runtime.

Im new to lipo and this is purely from 1 meetings experience with them. The packs come off charge before a heat, now the first lap or two, whether it be practice gridding laps or no practice and first few laps of timed heat, the car is an absolute f&$*king ROCKETSHIP (this is 27 turn stock by the way) BUT after those first few laps, the car goes soft. Now I know its not gearing due to the fact that motor heat etc is all good. Its noticeable more so that my competition are still running nimh, in fact I was the only 1 running your cells. Is this a trait with lipo in general or am I missing something? It seems to me like the voltage goes out of them in those first few laps. I compare it to the spongy feeling of running 5 cell mod when you have just run 6 cell. It just all of a sudden goes "softer".

I hope you know what I mean

I was reading through some posts and found this, figured I would comment as Danny said he hadn't seen this.

With the same pack (smc 4000), I have too noticed this. In my b4 with a 7.5l, the first lap and a half, about 35 seconds, it is a rocket, then it does fall off. I don't think the falling off is a drastic as going from 6 to 5 cell, but it does fall off. Like losing the peak on a nimh cell. But from the time it falls off to the time I take it off the track it runs the same, with maybe just a little bit less at the end. However I do not think it is the battery, I think it is the speedo I am using (novak gtb). The reason I think this, it is the same in my b44 with a trakpower 4800 saddle and a 5.5.

Are the 4000's and 5000s with top exiting wires going to be black instead of red?

Check, and check. Motors are geared at or near recommended gearing with a temp of 160 degrees F, after the run. Speedo temp is about 130 degrees F after the run. But the temp on the speedo was with a high airflow fan. I tried a different battery today to test (tekin 3400) which I borrowed from a friend. The battery is only 2 weeks old and the smc 4000 I got when they came out still has more go go juice. But both batteries did the falling off thing. Again, it is not a huge drop, it is like losing the peak on a nimh cell.

The new cases will come with a black/red graphite pattern.
