Balancing isn't a must with our packs but balancing in theory is good for the packs.

I reccomend you get the following adapter from Common Sense RC http://www.commonsenserc.com/product...roducts_id=278

You can then solder this connector to the 3 small wires on your Trakpower balancer. The outer red wire on the connector from Common Sense needs to be hooked up to the red wire that hooks up to the positive wire big wire on your balancer. The outer black wire on the connector needs to be hooked up to the negative wire hooked up on the Negative big wire of your balancer and the middle red wire needs to hook up to the small wire of your balancer that is attached to the 2mm bullet connector.

If you need anymore info about this let me know I will be glad to help.
hi i will get a smc 5000 lipo. just want to ask about the balancer again. this is my lipo balancer http://www.nexusracing.com/product_i...oducts_id=1915. when i was browsing at nexusracing i saw this http://www.nexusracing.com/product_i...oducts_id=1940. my question is do i need to do something else or just like plug and play. (note when balancing the orion packs. you attach the small black/red wire to the big black/red plastic thingy thanks

With the Trakpower balancer and adpater you will be all set. You will plug the balance connector from our pack into the adapter and the bigger wires from the balancer into the power leads of the pack.

If somone has a Trakpower , Checkpoint or Orion balancer that comes with what they call V-balance you could use this with our pack by taking the center black wire from the balance connector on our pack and installing a 2mm female bullet connector. You would then get the same results as a Trakpower and Orion pack. This means you would take the male 2mm bullet connector that comes out of the balancer and plug it into the female one that you installed on our pack and then plug the 2 red and 2 black wired into the power wires of the pack.

I don't really understand why that would be except that maybe the integrated balancer gives the charger better info on cell voltage. Also, it seems to charge up to 4.21V, not just 4.20V (at least accpoding to its own voltage readings).
What safety features do they have (e.g. reverse polarity, incorrect C rating)?

Since I've got Deans, I don' have an easy way to test reverse polarity and I wouldn't do it deliberately if I could. But when you use the integrated balancer it doesn't start charging until you confirm how many cells and what voltage battery is hooked up to the charger. I don't know what would happen if you tried to charge 700 mAHr pack as if it was a 4000 mAHr pack, whether the charger could figure that out or not. Again, not something I plan to test. But since the max charge rate is 10A and SMC packs can take up to 3C charge, you couldn't even exceed the max rate of the 4000 LiPo.

As soon as I have a picture I will post it.
Hi Danny. Any chance of letting us in on the specs of the saddles? Size, capacity, etc? Can't wait, I think these saddles will be sweet.

Our saddle pack will be 5000/5100 28C and should around the following size H26mm x W46mm x L68mm. As soon as I get the first sample pack I will know the exact capcity and size.

Sounds good, and at around 5000/5100 mAh with 28C discharge, my car will just be balistic. I can't wait for them to come out, and the sooner the better.

Any idea (well guess) on how much long it will be before we can buy them?

I cycled my new SMC 4000 today, 7.36 @ 25a with a 6.1 cutoff 564 sec. My orion 4800, which is about 6 mo old, only pulls 7.04, 561 sec. I can obviously feel the difference between the 2 packs.

ok. I'm the guy who blew up nimh packs, left them on the zero30 discharger until they got cold, abused, mis-used and generally destroyed packs for years. I had two chargers, discharger, smart trey, soldering iron just for bats with high silver content ($) solder, carrying cases, extra bars, shrink wrap, etc.

Now, all that c**p is all gone and its just me, my ice and a 5000 lipo.

It fits with no mods in my Corally RDX and has been wicked strong. My old habbits die hard though and I'm still beating this pack silly. I tell my ice that its an 8000 mih, push the button and walk away. I don't balance, have yet to fully cycle and all I do is re-peak, run my race and repeat. I have put AT LEAST 30 runs through her this way and I still get 8.4 to 8.49 volts at end of charge, no performance degradation, TONS of rip and just overall amazing performance.

It will more than likely mena me buying a new pack soon'er' than later, but I'm going to beat the ever loving juice out of this pack until its just dead. So for all of you out there being very carefull with your packs, feel free to use me as an example what these packs are capable of doing in the wrong hands.

Danny, thanks for all the support and putting out such a great product!

Our manufacturer is actullay going to start building the cells this month and our casing supplier told me we should have them in early July. This is later than we had hoped for but the good news is that it should fit in all cars.

Yes, it fits perfectly, no mods(& if you look back in this thread, I believe I posted a pic of it in both my 416 & the 415 I ran before that)......

It should fit the 416 with the EZ LiPo base. Here is a review done on the 416.

thanks verndog i would just like to know if you can mount the smc 5000 pack with the ez lipo base to the 416. (i saw a picture with ppd plate with a 4000 smc pack. not sure if a 5000 smc will heat the top deck) i read somewhere that smc height is 24.5mm while the clearance for 416 is only 25mm.
