graphite and aluminum

I have a xxx-s and was wondering if the graphite parts really make a diference? Also are aluminum parts any good for on road electric cars? I've heard that they're heavy.

If your car is under the ROAR legal limit as far as weight goes (53g I believe), then adding aluminum parts to get the weight up is a fairly good idea. Aside from that, I would stay away from aluminum parts and try and get graphite if possible.

The graphite parts do make a difference in performance. They are stiff, yet brittle. They are also light. The aluminum parts, as great looking as they are, are heavy compared to graphite. What these touring cars are designed to do is perform at a level that outdoes full scale racing. By adding aluminum parts, you are adding to the sprung and/or unsprung weight, changing the performance of the car.

using graphite suspension components may improve your car's handling in high traction surfaces. using aluminum parts such as battery holders and motor clamps helps a bit because they act as heatsinks.
