I am also working on a nice lipo tray for use with the max amps 4000 pack. THis is an aluminum decorative tray that when combined with the weight of the pack will weigh exactly the same as a 4 cell pack. The trays will be very nicely machined and anodized. I will post pics shortly.reminder, lipo packs may be installed without the use of a tray. I will be offering the trays to make life easier and also look real nice. Having the pack the same weight as a 4 cell will really keep the car handling at its best potential.

My understanding is the car will take the TrakPower saddle pack with no modifications? Is this correct?

It was my understanding that they would. We later found out that the track power pack is extremely tall. It came in at 30mm tall which would make it not fit as planned. The 4000 mah max amps pack fits great as do the all brands of stick pack lipos. We have made sure that the max amps saddle pack fits perfectly as will any saddle pack that does not exceed 22mm in height. I find it very odd that trak power went with 30mm. Oh well, there is no set shape or size determined for any of the classes so we will all have to make due with whats available. In time, shapes, sizes and capacity will all become a standard with lipo. Until then we will all keep playing the guessing game. We still are offewring the most flexible range of battery options and configurations that are available. All of the stick packs will fit and most with no mods at all. Any pack that is 22mm or less in thickness will fit with absolutely no modifications. The car will perform at its best with a saddle pack that will fit. This is why i bought the max amps. It handles identicle to the way it did with a 4 cell.

Jason, I know what you mean. The Trakpower saddle has been a disapoinment for me. I purchased one for my B44 and is very large to say the least. Compaired to a maxamps 4400 which is about 22mm tall, the Trak is around 30mm tall. Even if you hold the case next to a orion 4800 case, its bigger! I'm not sure why Trakpower did this, I though they would have atleast tried to make it the same dimensions as a standard saddle, or close to it. Somehow I'll shoe horn it in, but for now I'll be running a maxamps.

Funny right? 30mm is HUGE compared to what most pack are running.
22mm seems to be the standard height and really needs to be in order to fit the existing car. Oh well. Im sure we will be seeing alot more saddle packs showing up shortly. I like the max amps pack and will use it for a long time. Lipo wont be legalized for pan car for a while so we wont need to worry about hard case lipos until its legalized. by then there will be many to chose from.

Maybe we should all send notes, quick like, to Danny at SMC. I'm pretty sure they're working on a LiPo saddle pack and it would sure be nice if he knew we were looking for one not as tall as the Track Power.

What is the maximum height dimension that seems to work in the DB10R? How about the B44? Comparing to a 22mm unskinned pack may not be entirely fair, but I can't see the skin adding any more than 4mm to the oa height, probably closer to 3mm?

22mm will work out to be the same height and a standard sub c cell in the chassis. The unskinned 4000mah pack is 18mm tall. 30mm is just insane and will not fit any car on the market. 22mm is the ideal height for any car and is as large as we can go without shimming the battery brace up.

I just checked the height on the max amps pack with the skins and it comes to 21mm according to the website. 18mm is without the skins or at least the thickness of mine without the skins.

That is great to hear. I think this class is really going to take off. The handling is amazing and the simplicity can not be beat.
