RC was a hobby before we bought Tekin. Now RC is a job... I assure you we are extremely focused and committed to Tekins success. All the new Tekin products are achieving rockstar status until the R1 with the silly legal motors, and we are fixing it. .

Thank you for all the support from those that believe in us and have a clue what it takes to run a business.

Hey your the one who said you would not release it until it was right. the problem is not only with 13.5 motors but right across the board 3.5-13.5 and most brands including yours.

Sherri, Scooter and all the people over at Tekin have done an outstanding job of bringing Tekin back to the market!! They have turned Tekin back into a very popular and thriving company again with the FX and B1 series brushed speedos - taking numerous TQ's and 1st place podiums!! They have allot invested into the R1 series brushless speedos, but with Novak getting their way with ROAR this put a damper on what they had been trying to design and bring to the market. The R1 was supposed to be used mainly with sensorless motors. They have been trying to get their motors out ASAP, but have had to jump through some hoops. At least they have BIG balls and admit to what is wrong with the original R1 and they are fast to fix any problems. I wouldnt say they should stop selling it, but you should just be aware and either wait for it to be right or go somewhere else! I know that all my Tekin stuff works flawlessly and they are the best in support!!

They are now re-designing and testing a NEW brushless speedo that will work better with the sensored stuff, 17.5, 13.5 and 10.5!! I cannot wait to get mine

Jaybee…. Yes we will figure something out for those that believed in us and were disappointed. We agree that at this point it takes sensors to guarentee perfect launches in some applications, but not many and getting fewer as technology progresses. Contact us when the RS is released, but try the new software in the mean time. It is not absolutely 100% with the 13.5 and slower, but it is pretty good and really good with all the rest. We still like our motors better…..

Leodis… It is not an excuse, it is an unnecessary engineering project. I have made no secret of the fact that we do not like the current legal motor designs. RC racing has chosen a unique motor that is hard to start quickly and smoothly with sensorless systems and is expensive to build. Every factory we sent these designs to said the same thing, “ why build it like this? we can make a much better motor”. I always have to explain that this is what we have to build. If we started over, I doubt we would land here.

We like our slotless motors a lot more for many reasons. They are torque based designs with lower Kv’s and much more controllable. The legal slotted motors are like a rubberband when they break loose and draw huge current due to the lack of torque when there is traction. If you squeeze enough throttle they can put down the power, but at the expense of the controller and they come on like a freight train at the break point. For stock TC or oval it is an on switch anyway and may not matter, but for many others we think the feel and control is superior.

The mass RC market has clearly chose sensorless systems with slotless motors or at least slotted motors that can be driven sensorless. This includes all rtr’s and the rest of the industrial world. Those products that have sensors currently are all working on doing it sensorless for reliability, performance and cost reasons. We are just one of the many pressing forward instead of accepting the status quo..

That all being said we are building legal sensored motors and controllers. We intend to make them as good as the rules will allow and definitely good enough to win.

It will be available on the website. Once installed the Hotwire checks for new software automatically and downloads updates for all the controllers.
