Sounds like a good idea, in a traditional grid formation if you have the inside line for the first corner you tend to stay there then run wide to keep your position, putting everyone in a line makes things a bit more interesting as you dont really know where to go for the best.

Hmmmm... Lets see..... TQ starts 10 feet from corner... 6th qualifier starts 60 feet from corner....

Horn sounds and TQ can't floor it because of corner... 6th floors it because he has 50 feet to make up.... TQ gets a bunch of cars up hihs ass as a reward for being the fastest....

Now 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th are trying to do get to the corner as fast as they can.....

Now lets change the start line before the start of the straight away where the layout is not straight.... Unfair? Not really, TQ should get something for being the best....

Questions??

How many of you guys that have start issues in T1 race at a track that usually has the longest straight and starting grid furthest away from the drivers?

Just wondering about a theory, because I was never a big fan of the long straight so far away from the driver's stand, and any time I have seen starts close to the stand (oval racing), the carnage seems to be much less.

correct... and the same for all the other postions... if you are in 10th, you should be at the back with ground to make up....

Like I said, it is not prefect, but it is a lot better then the other styles I have experinced... and I have been in the back and up front...
