The new shorty lipos does offer some potential in new chassis designs but to speculate on the market reaction right now is just too preliminary. I think the capacity and C rating need to improve before it becomes widely accepted such that designers will start taking advantage of its size.
For now I really don't see why they can't just keep the current three belt configuration and just tweak the car to fix its shortcomings. I still think that if they borrowed some of the features from the Top Photon (ie shock towers and RCA wings), they could have a nice car going. About the battery issue, they can find a way to redesign the bulkheads such that they could use a narrower top deck with the pack sliding in from the side just slightly offcenter in conjunction with the current electronics layout and still achieve a narrow chassis design without giving up on the three belt. In doing so they can avoid the chassis flex issues by ditching the drop out battery plate. |
I thought touring cars had to weigh a certain minimum amount though?
nice to see the option of smaller batteries but i dont see the point in designing a car that relies on it. ala, crc's inline option on their 12th scale. that tcx looks great but the team magic looks more efficiently layed out. seems like a lot of wasted space there in the steering system. agree somewhat on the bulkhead design of the photon. less is more. but what is the advantage of vertical camber links? seems more likely to pop off. |
The TCX prototype is not the sexiest step sister in the stable but it's defiantly a proof of concept.
Agreed a TC is not just a battery but with the advent of smaller components arranging the pieces of the puzzle should become easier. |
yes, but seems to me like modern lipo tcs have that sorted out pretty well. if anything, would be more of a headache to re-arange your components/add wire ect with a stubby pack.
though, shame they are dropping the e4 platform. with shorter lipos, you could mount the servo inline where the extra battery mass would have been. with modern brushless technology i wonder if the three belts are really such a hinderance. though i wonder how well an outboard shaft drive would work. |

For the guys who are still running the E4RS would be wise to get this or the new Tamiya TA06? |

They have everything Team Magic and KFactory. Their site is a little slow and clunky. They take Paypal and have relatively reasonable shipping costs. |
No luck:confused::confused:
Now there is a strange one. I never had any problems with parts from them. If they don't stock them, Mr. Lee can have them within 2 or 3 days and then send them to you. Perhaps TM is out of parts? regards Roy Ps what are you looking for?

One piece bottom chassis plate with no battery cutout
It looks like Exotek will have their chassis kit for the TA06 some time soon. Like all other aftermarket chassis kits for the TA06, the chassis is one piece with no battery cutout.
Really the design team for the new E4 should take a close look of the Exotek chassis once its available. If they take the time to maintain the centered battery and motor three belt layout and incorporate other improvements borrowed from developments of the TA06 chassis and the TOP Racing shock tower and bulkheads, they would have a real winner to look at. Honestly nobody is gonna bother with Team Magic if all they are going to produce is just an XRay clone. |
