Default Hacker/Thunder Power Racing 5000mAh Hard Case

I'm just a big fan of TP. Anyhow, as shown previews at Snowbirds, Hacker is releasing a Hard case Thunder Power Extreme pack.

http://www.hackerbrushless.com/

From the one pic, I can't see if it has a balancer port (middle?), and unsure if its taped or sealed together (hope former for potential safety).

RC car Action Picture

if its the same as the normal 5000mah extreme:
125 Amps Continuous with a 250 Amps Burst
(notice they list continuous AND Burst versus other manufacturers)

The only thing that matters is the pack's dimensions.

According to Tps site:

TP5000-2SXV

7.4V 2-Cell

247 grams

17x48x160

I would fantom about 5mm for each dimension at the most?
22X55X167 (ish)

Maybe Hacker will make the official announcement soon so we get the details.

160mm is too long to fit in most cars. It needs to be ~140mm to fit everything. Thats the length of the 6 cell sub-c pack all cars are designed to use.

The longest hard case LiPo pack is the Core 5000 and its 138mm long.

Good point. I would assume then these arent the same dimensions as the normal 5000mah. Hopefully a Hacker or TP rep can chime in?

According to ROAR regulation, the max. dimension for the hard case Lipo pack should be within 25.1 x 47 x 139. I don't think that the pack from TP can fit most of the car and pass ROAR regulation. I am waiting to get the new hard case pack from SMC to find out if it is really a 28C pack.

"This is a new 5000mAh Lipo pack from Thunder Power Racing. These packs are ROAR legal and are available through Hacker Brushless USA. "

Misleading phrase I beleive. I do not think they are ROAR approved, I don't think any lipo packs are in fact approved. They are using "legal" to imply "Approved" which I believe is not true.

This sence of "Legal", of course does you no good during Tech inspection at a ROAR event.

I got a response from Chris at TP today..

Quote:
The packs that I built for the three drivers at the Snowbird nats were made
up from 5000mAHr cells (not the same as our V2 cell) and essentually I just
made a box around them from 1/32 ply sheeted with .008" carbon sheet. The
packs were just a little too big thickness wise. For production, we are
going to have a molded carbon/kevlar case made and it will house any one of
several different cells ranging from approximately 3600 to 5200 mAHr. The
racing packs will be smaller and will use a couple of new cells that will be
of our v2 chemistry. We will also have a larger capacity pack in the
5200mAHr range that will be of similar size to what I built for cars that
have room and need longer run times.
