Well, that gets into legacy more than engineering. All of the gear drive FWD cars are descendants of 2wd buggies. That puts the itnernal ratio up around 2.5 instead of the usual 2.0 or 1.9 that touring car people expect.

It's "sane" to gear whatever you need with both styles.

Thanks for your quick responses. It helps and clears things up. I just figure it might be easier to gear a belt car than a gear car.

They did go quick. I'm glad I jumped on it when I did. It was on the wish list for a while.

Hey guys I'm fairly new to the fwd touring cars.

Is there any good Setup guides to troubleshoot issues or anything like that to suit fwd? Or would 4wd touring car stuff be same/similar ?

Thanks

Isn't that supposed to be a "20", like in 2020?

3) Awesomatix - A800FX
4) VBC - FF17, FF18
5) MTS - FF (V2, V3)

7) Destiny - RX10FF
8) Xpress - Execute FT1
9) Top Racing - Sabre FD2
10) ARC - R11F
11) Fast Forward - FF7.2F - a converted AE TC7.2 to FWD (not sure if this is valid)
12) MST - TCR (not sure if this is valid too).
Been thinking of picking up a FWD chassis, and looking through this list have noticed that most are belt drive with a few being gear driven. I come from racing off-road 2wd buggies where there has been a debate from time to time over the merits of 3 gear, 4 gear, belt drive and now 5 gear transmissions. Just curious if there is much difference between belt and gear driven, and how it may affect the handling of a FWD touring car.

Very nice, looks to be a quality chassis overall.

Ken, it seems the motor sits nice and low.

Anyone try the Delta Audi S3 body. Wonder if its pretty neutral handling.

Here’s my ARC R11f and it’s new body. Styled from Peter Brock’s 1996 Australian Super Touring Championship Volvo 850. Body is by L and L Models. Wheels don’t quite match the original car, but they don’t look too bad. Underneath the R11f still needs a couple of things to finish off and mount the electronics.
