I must say we are changing out the electronics on our cars to the Speed Passion Grand Turismo BL ESC w/Programming Box and 13.5 and we will test the 10.5 and others as well.

I use this in our 1/12 scale cars as well as my friends we all like it.

BMI DB12R !!!!!!! is a great car!

I was over on HobbyTalk and the guys are making a very good point about what needs to happen for the success of the GT10 class...controlling the speeds to a point and making it a class that is not only desirable as a potential beginner class (I know that the SpeedSpec II is a good option there) that can bring in new faces to the hobby as well as bring in existing racers. The other thing is that this NEEDS to be a fun class...not just another class where everyone takes it WAY too seriously. I know that there is a level of competition involved but competition should not be the only point.

I will 2nd that one,

And that is why it should start out as a fixed rules class.

Cell limit - Motor limit and so on.

From there as more and more people race they can have Pro classes and unlimited classes.

just my 2 cents

C.C.

Time to test X10 Viper and race 1/12 P962 Class see ya.

I would not mind seeing the mains with rolling starts (I figure we have batteries that could handle that) and I think that scoring softwares could handle up to 20 car mains so I think that 12-20 would be pretty awesome and I think that we could find a workable compromise on main times between indoor and outdoor (6-9 minutes Id say). Im sure these are things that tracks will want to work out as they run GT10.

As a side note there is another thread talking about how awesome itd be to have an event for pan cars only much like they are doing for Vintage Trans-Am. I think it could be done once GT10 gets a good foothold, but there cannot be 50 different classes for it. Id say Pro10, GT10 and 12th scale (2 each).

Here's a brief video of another racer and I running our pan cars on Wednesday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLEMx68kIp4

Both cars are stock 6 cell.

The red NSX (mine) stopped because the positive battery terminal was loose after the hit where we went side by side coming onto the straight and I went under the board.

I think group starts every run like mains starts would be fine. Rolling starts would be a mess. 50% of the guys at my local track can't turn a lap without whacking the boards a few times. They could never do a lap, hold a starting position and start in order

Yup, 6 cell stock and they are BALLISTIC! I can't wait to see what the guys here that are planning to run Lipo and 10.5 or Mod do to their cars

If you run 17.5 or 13.5 in a Pro-10 on Lipo or 6 cells you better be used to running a Mod sedan with a 4.5 in it or you won't be able to handle the speed on 99% of US size tracks.

Thats fine by me though we will make plenty of spare parts

On our track, 6 cell stock run faster laps than 6 cell 19 turn. It's close but the stock is faster.

On that layout I showed there I ran my pan in the C main stock TC. started at the back of the straight. The race director told me I could run but I wasn't allowed to interfere with anyone else (no overtaking or even sitting behind another driver putting pressure on them). I only overtook when racers crashed or had a very clean pass.

I pulled over twice for a total of 5 laps and finished 3 laps down from the leader with 25 laps. Bear in mind I couldn't overtake anyone so my laps were dictated by the racer in front of me. It was C main too. I'm pretty sure I could have hit 32 laps w/o too much effort if I was allowed to race.

Nothing scientific as there are a lot of variables (not to mention different drivers), but here are the fast laps from the first race of the BBR LeMans cup held at the Ground Pounders club in Santa Rosa (north of San Francisco)

235mm lipo/10.5, gtp body: 8.9 seconds
235mm 4cell/19t, gtp body: 9.5 seconds
200mm 6cell/10.5, gt body: 9.3 seconds
For comparison the fastest sedan 19t lap was 9.9 seconds and 1/12 17.5 was 9.5 seconds.

Both 235mm cars were RC10Ls, and the 200mm car was an RC10L3T.

Forget to mention, Ground Pounders race is small outdoor asphalt temporary track that is treated with soda. Traction was good (about 7 our of 10 IMHO).
