Why not a SPEC10 and PRO10 class.

SPEC10:
4-cell NiMH
Damperner Sidetubes or Swash Plate (No Pricey Side Shocks)
Center Shock allowed
G10 main Chassis
17.5 Motor class.
Spec Tires (Banded white)
NO SPEC Battery packs, those are just carppy cells and cause racers to speed more money . Use normal packs.

PRO10:
Classes start at 13.5 Motors
Restrictions removed

Sadly, Gordonsville is closed now. It's now a tractor store last I heard...

I had an on-road track here for a couple years, but it died out from lack of use and now someone else is using the parking lot. I'm working on something though...

Yeah. Coopers is in Chatham. There is an outdoor off-road track in Martinsville too, but I can't remember the name. It's right on 220 though.

I agree with the new format I won the last Six cell stock pancar race here in florida with a narrow( 200mm car) against a field of 235mm cars, my car worked as good if not better then the others. The narrow car is more then capable.

This class would bring me back to racing.

I also would have never thought to it being four cell but having run 4cell 19t 12th scale , and 10th 10.5 4 cell oval, I will vouch that it would be fast enough to keep you on your toes.

I have been praying for this class to make a comeback. So all you whinners out there take the blessing and stop your bicth!n. Rules are there already just drop the 2 cells and 35mm's and lets rock!!

Good job Adrian, Doug from Prc is also ready for the new class!!!!

4-cell can keep you more than on your toes even in stock.

So any thoughts about the

SPEC10 and the PRO10 classes?

I just felt that if people wanted cheaper cars, give it to them, but keep those cars out of the PRO10 classes. I am for cheaper racing and the PRO10 will be cheaper then sedan racing. What I don't want is great cars(PRO10) being be walked around the track with slow motors.

A SPEC10 would be a great class in its own since it would be cheaper than either the PRO10 classes of the Sedan Classes. A racer could start out in the SPEC10 learn to drive on a durable cheap car and then step up to a faster setup in PRO10.

I think it is a pretty fair idea having Spec10 and Pro10. I keep repeating this every time but I think that we really need to take a lesson from the VTA boys and really go with just one class and one set of rules to get this thing off the ground. That is why i keep preaching 4 cell 4600 NiMH, 19T Brushed/10.5 Brushless, GT bodies. I think 5 minute qualifiers and 8 minute mains would be workable as well. What would be great is that if this can get off the ground, maybe we could have enduros (I had an idea for a three day endurance festival with enduros for all different classes electric and nitro once). But right now I think we need to focus on getting this going and I think the best way to do that is with a singular set of rules and a single class for the 200s

For starting the PRO10 class out

the 4-cell 10.5 would be a great start. Also the 13.5 could be a good start too so I guess it would be up to the local clubs to decide what motor to put in the car.

Once the PRO10's are established and sedan drivers realized the money pit they are in, open up to more classes and introduce a SPEC10 car.

Ok after reading (even in light of what I posted as a suggested rules set), here are the combinations I think need to be tested to see which is best (but remember we dont want this to turn into a speed war)

Brushed

4 cell 19T
4 cell 27T
LiPo 19T
LiPo 27T

Brushless
4 cell 10.5
4 cell 13.5
4 cell 17.5
LiPo 13.5
LiPo 17.5

If anyone can test those indoors AND/OR outdoors that would be great. Itd be nice to have some data to work from for everybody that wants to see a 200mm GT type class get off the ground

Why don't you test them?

Hi guys, there is already a good thread for Pro 10 running over in the Oval, Large Scale, etc area, here on RCTech. Alot of the questions being raised here have already been answered on that thread.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthre...t=145&page=460

I have wanted Pro10's to make a decent comeback for many years and feel great that others want the same! It seems like a couple of countries still have a good following (Germany for example) so it's great that new chassis's are being made avalible. I'll try and find some pics from their meetings, some of the homemade cars are awesome!

Cheers, Chris.

Gosh- I've already tested, run a race with the 13.5 with 5 minute qualifiers and 8 minute main using 4 cells(4600).The gear was a 30x84 with purple fronts and pink rears.

If I droped 2 cells now I'd end up with zero

I raced 4 cell pro 10 last summer. Did not add any value to the class at all. It just left me thinking what a waste of time it was. Why not just run to 10.5/19t limit. Dumping nimh's in 5 minutes puts them under a lot of stress and they wear out quick. The only people who benifit in the long run are cell matchers. Once people have their 4 cell specific cars and motors it makes changing to lipo a problem. You end up in the nimh trap just like 5 cell.

There is one club in the uk running 4 cell mod touring and they are doing very similair times to 6 cell 19t. So might be an idea to just mix them all together. 19t/10.5 6cell/lipo and mod 4 cell.

For a class like this to take off it's got to be as open to people as possible. Something like 99% electric of all racers use 6cell or lipo. 12th is a niche market already and 5 cell even more so.

Having to have specific gear for all different cars is one of the worst things there is. It's great to know I can run my single lipo in loads of different chassis and even my bike. Aim to make this new class as modular as possible.

It's not a winge it's a lecture

I'm sure people will think twice before buying a 4 cell/saddle only kit anyway.

Run similar to what we have done in oval.

4 cell 17.5
4 cell 13.5
4 cell 10.5

Lipo 21.5
LiPo 17.5

Lipo 21.5 is close in speed to 4cell 13.5 and lipo 17.5 is close to 4 cell 10.5. I really don't think that dumping with be an issue with current crop of nimh, for club racing we run 5 min quals and 75 lap main and we're fine with the nimh. With LiPo, the sky would be the limit for run time.
