I am mostly dating college girls and they are a bit finiky*. In my mind they expect all of your income to go to buying them things....so I just keep my RC stuff in my old room at my parentsand race Fridays and Saturday afternoon and nights...

Yes, you should definitely tell your girlfriend about your hobby. It's silly not to. She can come once, even for a short while, just to see what it's all about. Of course, she doesn't have to ever come again, but anyone who truly wants to know you, would certainly be interested in your hobby that is part of your life. You need to be open about everything with her, otherwise you'll have a shallow and pretentious relationship that won't last.

what ever you do, trust me, you will regret it when you are older and wiser

you have heard people say, "if I knew then, what I know now..." Its not BS

THERE ARE GOOD ONES OUT THERE! YOU JUST GOTTA FIND THEM.

SyndrOmes wife even lets him out weekly to play. If you get a mature woman who is not all about the attention they need it will work out better.
Happy wife, happy life. The occasional compromise goes a long way toward keeping everything smooth. I just skip a race day now and then when something important comes up, don't make her feel like she's less important than racing, and things are good. :-)

You do have it good, though. I thinks she actually enjoys all the "guy talk" around there. Sorry I missed you at the last race. I continued the trend of taking myself out trying to pass.

R/C will always be there, take a few years off and enjoy college life. There's plenty of time to play with r/c cars when you're old and fat and college girls want nothing to do with you.

Default trust

If you are ever going to get a meaningful long lasting relationship going you are going to have to build some mutual trust. While you may think that you are not lying, you are not being truthful either by not telling your grils what you are doing on Saturday. If they don't like what you are doing, they are probably not for you anyway. There are lots of ladies our there who either think RC is cool or at least willing to let you do what you love.

I spent 3 wasted years on my ex, she hated RC's for two reasons, because it brought me joy, and because she had nothing better to do so I was expected to sit my butt on the couch all day every day. I tried everything, took her out, bought her gifts, nothing was good enough. As fun as that seems.... Ive now moved on and Im alot happier. I told the new one about why i left the last one, the constant nagging, the BS about the hobby and other forms of motorsport, that I love, the money pinching (i know what the other reply meant about spending your paycheck on them!!!) and I told her that was the easiest way to drive me away. She is mega supportive, and as long as it puts a smile on my face, shes happy (and that goes for more than RC! ). Plus i reciprocate too, she mentioned a few weeks back that she loves horses.... guess who has a surprise horse riding lesson next weekend

Basically, if you can do without RC thats fine, but for most of us in this hobby, we do it cause we love it. Its a harmless, but sometimes expensive sport, that brings us joy, so if your with someone who cant see that, leave them in a heartbeat. If they cant support you with something like RC, then dont expect support from them for the big things in your life.

As someone who races full size cars, RC, and might be racing karts again this summer too, you have to put in the extra hard yards for them too. I make sure my gf (soon to be wife) is very happy, with dinners, concerts, you name it. Whatever it takes to have a happy partner and a happy racing life, i dont mind at all to work at it Hope that helps!
