I like the new method of qualiflying...

Every round counts.....

Not just two......

And your results are not base on your best fast time , rather it base on how you did compared to all the others for that round you just ran...

This way if track conditions change you still have the same chance to qualifly .... Cus, if the track gets faster everyone still has to beat each other instead of trying to beat a faster or slower track...

Hats off to Roar !!!

It fair & a better way .....

yeah it is the best round gets you points. the only proof i have is that todd malone was in 10th and he told me last night that there were people ahead of him that were a lap down from him but in their particular round, they did better than he did and received a lower point score.

i guess it lies in who it benefits to which method it better. at first look i thought it was lame but it does seem pretty neat.

For everyone who is/was wondering how qualifying worked:

This is a NEW Q-points system, being used for the first time (as far as I know).

Each racer is assigned points equal to their best round out of 4.

If racers are tied, they are then ordered based on their single fastest qualifying time. If somehow that still results in a tie, it goes to their next-fastest times, and so on.

In this race, Scotty Ernst finished 1st in both qualifiers on Friday, but Mike Dunnigan and Alex Lopez each won a heat on Saturday. Dunnigan had the fastest run overall, so he was first, Lopez ended up second, and Scotty took third on the grid.

Hopefully that clears up the qualifying system.

Personally, I think the new qual system sucks.

The real issue that confuses me is that after all the bitching that was done when the new system was announced, ROAR reviewed their decision and decided to hold off using the single point system until a few test races could be run to make sure the system worked. The only class that was susposed to use the new system was the Nitro Onroad Nat's because they are the guys that asked for the change, all other nat's were supposed to use the original points system.

Why did they run the single point system?

Mo was telling me that it does not go by the fastest time. If there are multiple "so called" racer's tied it goes to whom did their time first. Regardless. Totally stupid.

I personally do not like any qual points. Run your qualifiers and take your best.

Arrow Event Promotion...

The excitement and the prestege of winning a sactioned race, is it what it used to be???
Look at the turnout, about 160 entries? Correct me if im wrong.

Now look at the non-santioned races and club/regional/national point series, the racing is exciting and more of a promotion for the sport of R/C Racing. I can think of a few races and point series... Snowbird Nationals, Off-road Pro Series, out West I believe its the Saturday Nite Point Series and in Florida a Summer Nites point series that averages 140 racers.... These are the type of events that sactioned races need to look at as a guide to promote R/C Racing and the hobby...

The web its a great tool to promote the R/C Hobby, National Events need to take advanage of it. R/C Tech does a great service for promotion. It would be nice to see Hosting Clubs and Sactioning Bodies use some of the available technology to promote National Events too....

Only 160 entries because some people felt that A) the track was too big and B) there were concerns about the moisture on the track. At least that is what i heard from some guys who considered going. I am not saying this was true, as I have never been there , but that is what was expressed to me. Who knows, maybe the wind was blowing the wrong diresction. Rc racers are touchy about a lot of things.

What a hot weekend. I'm pretty sure I am dehydrated hehe. But I guess I had fun. Didn't do too good. But my friend was able to make the Bmain in Stock. I have a few pictures so I guess I can post them here.

Hope Steve Wang, Mark D, D Berger, and all else that traveled here made/make it home safely. It was nice to meet you guys. Hopefully we'll meet again sometime. Anyhow...
