Hi Mike D,

Congrats on your win, and thanks for introducing me to Danny.

And just to clarify something, there was no tech there on Friday. They didn't check tires or motors. I know, because they didn't check mine, or any of the racers I talked to (and I spoke with almost everyone there) In fact, half of the racers didn't know they were suppose to take their tires into the shop to get them stickered and signed. Which by the way was not the racer's fault because there was no drivers meeting to inform them. And even if they sticker and sign your tires, they don't know how many sets you teched in, because they didn't mark off how many sets was teched by each racer (again, I know, because I asked). I wasn't sure if there was a ROAR rep there for the event, but I would sure like to talk to him.

I better stop...the race is over, all is history. I just hope they (the track, the organization ROAR) learned a lot from this race and will continue to try and make national events better

Again, Congrats to all the winners

Steve Wang

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you.Stock class racing if more than just for "beginners" or "sportsman" drivers,it is a highly competitive, cost controlled class that has alot of prestige to it.That is why it is called the stock class, not the beginner or the sportsman class.Stock class can also be a stepping stone to the modified class if that is what the driver wants to do.

Really the best thing ROAR can do is offer a sportsman were total priviteers can race for a national title .

Mike Dunnigan-Congrats on your 2 big wins!

Why not sanction 19t as a TC class and give the guys that dont want to run full mod a place to race. It seems to me, and maybe someone can correct me, but there is no middle ground on the national level. I cannot blame guys that have zero chance in mod for wanting to run stock.

I respectively diagree with Brian on the Sportsman call, just too hard to determine who is, and is not, a sportsman.

And Congrats to all of the the winners....

Futureal - I am going to support Bullfrog on something here. There were two more classes at this event, Masters 1/12 and Masters Touring Car. The numbers were low, so that means there was one main for each. That is a total of two more listings of 10 or less. I think it is important to show those results. Not showing those results is treating those drivers as second class citizens in RC. I am sure Bob Brown of Dumfries, VA would also appreciate this being added to the listing as he won the Master Touring Car.

and although i have no idea who he is, i also want to congratulate mike dunningan on TQ and win in the stock touring class...(were you in my qualifying heat!? hahha)

great discussion regarding the finer points seperating the two TC classes and i am sure the same arguments have been going on for years in other forms of RC racing. several people here are suggesting another, more 'intermediate' class for sedan at nats, but where do you draw the line? look at electric oval racing: 10th scale 6 cell stock, 10th scale 6 cell 19t, 10th scale 4 cell spec driveshaft, etc. etc. you get the point...

correction..almost every national oval event there are
4 cell stock
4 cell 19 turn
4 cell mod

and sportsman
4 cell stock
4 cell 19 t
4 cell mod

J 6 cell is dead..running a 6 cell oval class is pointless now because roar and norrca do not recognize 6 cell as a class anymore.

the last norrca oval race i attended every single car was teched every time it went on the track..and the president himself was there to make sure the rules were inforced..to make sure everyone was happy..to make sure things ran smoothly..PLUS he was able to promote norrca and offer a 5 dollar fee for a one time event membership or for 10.00 a entire year membership..just because we took the time to race a national level event. the 19 turn class is a blast! learn from the oval guys and you will go far! lol incase you dont know who this is J ask aaron. he he he donttread on oval! keep arguing about on road and roar! this is fun! btw the masters classes should be removed and add sportsman stock and 19 turn next year..i promise there will be more than 8 entries in those combined classes..and i bet they post the winners from those classes...

Once again, what am I supposed to do? ROAR -- or the host track -- should be the one sending me (or somebody) results to post if they want to see everything on the web. Instead, one of the drivers there was nice enough to call me after every round and read me what he had. That was *all* the information I had available, and I was happy to get it.

At the 2003 Carpet Nats, you'll notice that I listed the Masters classes as well. In fact, I typed in as much as I possibly could every night. While everybody else was wrenching on their cars or running practice runs, I was typing in results and putting them on the web (and still drawing complaints, I might add).

I would absolutely love to work something out with ROAR to get full results from these big events, and I'd love to post them all the minute the rounds are done. But it's a tough thing to coordinate by myself. I don't get paid for this (in fact I am losing money on this site now, with the increased popularity), but I still strive to get as much information up there as possible.

Obviously, improvements can be made. And I'll be the first to say it...

i like to race against factory guys in stock but you all need to remember not every body wants to race mod it takes a different driving style in both classes and diff set ups. novice guts werent allowed to race at the nats if i recall correcttly. you should actually have to quallify to make this event at a regional level in my opinion.
and i also think 19t is the way to go as for here in florida factory mod guys race with all the the guys that race stock at big races and dont have an advantage. we have some of the closest racing around and everybody is happy.

Shane...I think your coverage was the best you could do with what and who you had to work with.

I for one feel that there should not be a masters class.....we should have a Junior class or entry level class. When was the last time other then Cleveland there was more then a heat or two of Masters? Most of the guys in Masters can beat most of the guys in Stock any way so why give them their own class just have them race Stock and make it even more competitive. That's what a Stock National title is all about racing in a semi cost limited and LEVEL environment against the best around where tuning skills are just as important as a big battery.

So whats the ROAR count for successful Nationals this year with out some major cluster f*up??? This just makes everyone go to another NON ROAR race and not care about ROAR but yet ROAR when you talk to them they are Trying to work it out or its a work in progress.....its more like its in regression.

What ROAR should do is have the guys from Minn Reg run every national race and there would not be this many problems....the two carpet nationals that I went to down there were the BEST run ROAR races ever.

Ok Im walking away from the soap box now.....anyone else want to use it?

i agree about having to qualify at the regional level for the nats. there should be some consideration for areas that have a larger base of racers.

if this ever comes to a vote at roar however it would be nice to have a voting response greater than what previous voting results have shown from the members.
