Default We need a "heavy" lipo, who is going to step up?

So it looks like weight cant be added to the batteries under the new lipo rules, just the chassis. Who is going to be the first to step up with a heavy lipo for us? There has been lots of talk about it but nothing has come about.

Or are the chassis makers going to get smart and start offering accessories for those using lipo packs to help balance the car?

i am sure someone will start making Lipo packs that are already up to a certain weight. Something close to a 4200 NiMh I would assume.

That would be nice too! But we still need a pack for this year

Just use 26650 Lithium cells. The can on the cells adds weight and protection. 4-cell in a stick pack is about the same size as a 6-Cell LTO pack.

Yeah thats true. But one of the advantages of Lipo are their lower weight and I think we'll take a step backwards if we start making them heavier.

Also lighter cars less breakage

Ideally packs like the Orion 3200 have removable plates (its just double sided tape holding them to the cells). They could release an option part that fills the nubs with weight. Keeps it down low and helps balance the cars that are all designed around nimh right now. Or the car makers could make plates for their chassis. Either way it is a pain right now to get to weight and if you cant add the weight to the battery itself it becomes even more difficult.

Personally,
I like the battery`s as they are , because I like adding the ballast myself for tuning the car ...

Im not saying bring the cars all the way up to weight. I still want some wiggle room to move stuff around. The way it is now you are just adding weight all over the place to just to get it on the car. Esp if you are using lead over tungsten and if you are using a 3200 rather then a 4800.

How about lower chassis made from solid steal instead of carbon fibre? No cell slots needed.

Can't get the added weight much lower than that

Our 8000 7.4v packs should meet the new roar specs and give you more than just dead weight

Roar specs and Roar approval is not the same thing.

I can understand your concern,

I have been in contact with Dawn over the last several weeks regarding our lipo packs. We already have the required UN T1-T8 Certification and are sending in our 4000, 5000, 6000, and 8000 packs for review imediately. Based on the guidlines laid out by Dawn here on the forums, our lipos will be ROAR approved.

Best Regards,

Austin
