Default Oval Racing on the VELODROME

With the season kickoff for the 08 SWTour Season coming quickly, we'll be starting the year at the Encino Velodrome. (Feb 16th @ the Encino Velodrome)

This will also kick off the beiginning of our Brushless/LIPO season.

Classes are slated for

LIPO/21.5

LIPO/17.5

LIPO/10.5* (Note: 4 cell/10.5 can be run in this class also)

NASTRUCK - 17.5/LIPO

We can/will run BRUSHED classes in addition to the Brushless Classes IF there is enough intersest in running a separate brushed class (ie: 4 cell stock)

Something I would like to see is if there is any interest from the guys who don't normally RUN at the velodrome in a NON-AERO class, or a breakout class taking the AERO advanage away.

Since 4 cell stock has a track record really close to a 25/5:00, and runs laps as quick as mid 11.00 seconds, my thoughts would be to use a breakout formula in the 23 lap range and lap times in the 13 second range.

This could be a great way to get new ROOKIES to the velodrome on the track w/o them having to buy all the specialized VELO stuff...

(LAP TIMES and Breakout rules could be adjusted once this class was established)

...see ya at the track~

Things are headed towards a return of the SWT Series, but for
2017 the focus will be on the Encino Velodrome (and dirt oval racing)

I've received a couple emails about this -

The purpose of the "break-out" class being proposed it we've had several people show interest in wanting to try running their car on a velodrome but they didn't want to have to invest in a 'specialty' Highly AERO Velo PAN CAR.

With a limited, and somewhat slow breakout rule, we can offer an entry level class where you could run anything from any old cheap pan car, or maybe even a TOURING CAR and see what it's like to make laps on a 250 METER High Banked - High Speed SUPER SPEEDWAY type of track.

Nemo,

On the PAN CARS we use the capped tires. The foam tires seem to just slide off the track.

Haven't tried running a TC on the track, but if I were going to try - I'd probably try a set of the harder premounts.
