Default Extending Race Lengths ( your thoughts )

With many new changes on the way for TC Racing this year, many of which leaving room for longer races, I would like to know how the masses feel about extending race times.

There are many things to consider on this topic and many different ways to make this happen; So Ill just propose the following scenario.

Track "X" has beeen running 5 minute qual & 5 minute mains, with 3 rounds of qualifying and 1 main per class. This could be changed to 6 minute qualifiers and 8 - 10 minutes mains. If there are to many heats to have time for this the qualifiers could be limited to two rounds to save time.

Again this is just one of many different ways to extend race times. I would just like to look at the general subject and hear feedback.

Please, lets not make this a BL or Lipo thread.

If your squeezing it into an evenings racing there is no time, there is one place close to me http://www.horshamrc.org/ who has this kinda time scale on their hands and they race sedan, off road,1/12th and micro so we are limited to 3 minute heats and finals.

That said, some people will envy you talking about longer races

Same story here. We have been running 6 minutes for the last two years. I personaly would like to see 8 minutes be the norm. I would even go for ten minutes.

Anyone else remember the switch from 4 to 5 minutes? That was many years ago.... I also remember the mod guys complaining about not making run time and I believe Sanyo 2000mAh Ni-Cads were the leading battery technology.

I think more track time is always better. I would love to see longer heats/mains for club racing, schedule-permitting. One reason I have started to run 12th scale is because of more track time- you just get more bang for the proverbial buck.

8 minute racess for touring cars. Maybe the 19 turn guys will stop gearing them so high they burn out after 3 runs!

I have a huge amount of extended duration track testing with 1/12th, and 200mm electric pan 4cell. 15 minute qualifier, 20 minute main stuff. When you guys are ready to discuss that part of it. I'm to the next level. I don't want 2 minutes, I want double or more track time. I want some value for my race weekend. I'm here, I want some track time!!!

Quite do-able now with very little modification. Speed is excellent.

Well, I suppose we could try that in the school Gymnasium we race in. Not sure how my Truggy's gonna work on the carpet, but who know's. At least I can keep the engine cool between heats by sticking the car outside in the 30 below temperature on a 2 foot deep snow bank.
