An oil gear diff for the M05

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have experience using the black transmission gears in an M05...any better than the white ones with respect to speed, noise or efficiency?

The trick was to simply get someone with a lathe that could cut the plastic pieces correctly.

We have been testing for a while and to date no failures so it is good

They're just plain stronger. We used to have people burning through gears like mad, but since the black ones became available there's less wrenching and more racing.

ive just installed the black gear set into an m03 , no speed difference , noise about normal but quieter than what it was before i changed out the stuffed pinion , with any luck they will simply last longer as they are supposedly reinforced..ive only used two of the gears as im running a ball diff so the gear diff part wasnt required

It is not a Sakura diff case. It is a modified 3Racing TC diff case. The other thing you need to know is you require a lot of 10 x 15 shims to get it to sit snuggly inside the m chassis, so you do not have a great deal of side to side movement.

Seeing as you've gone to the trouble of having pieces machined, why not take the next step and have a mold made of the modified section? The trick will be doing this before a manufacturer does. With rapid prototyping and mold making becoming so commonplace a manufacturer could start whipping these things out in the thousands by supper time.

In any case, I want one.

We used Araldite to secure the gear

It is a temporary fix. There are already manufacturers in the process of finishing their version (Spice for example)

All we did was lathe down existing parts to make the solution.. The teeth were provided by lathe out the middle of a ball diff gear. The cap plate to the oil gear diff was simply the normal end plate with the pulley for the Sakura Zero. We simply lathe off the pulley

Yup. I don't know exactly how, but it's working. I got the program card for it, as well. Teensy little circuit board in a case 5 sizes too large. Think I'll have to make a smaller case for it.
