Default OIL GEAR DIFF

I am happy to report the oil gear diff I have been testing in my MO5M is working a treat and standing up to the abuse running on carpet and asphalt. The diff has not leaked and still pulls the car in a straight line. I have been very happy with this car and will continue to test for a while yet.

The best part is it is a very simple conversion and only requires minimal effort to get a great working lower maintenance diff.

The 500 000 wt oil could be replaced with 300 000 wt oil, as a friend who is running this in his car has pretty much the same grunt on acceleration out of the corners.

I still also run the TAO3 ball diff in my other car that I use at big events as I prefer the drive that this gives and I like the reliability.

I think however that in the future the gear oil diff will be the way forward for the MO5/MO6. Unfortunately they will not fit inside a MO3 unless one is purpose made.

When I have conducted some more testing I will report back.

BTW,

I don't want to hear anymore about anal probes and TFG in the one sentence. You guy's are fully sick.

Are Tamiya CVA Mini shocks any better than the clear ones that the kit comes with?

They are both the same withthe exception to weight the clear ones are lighter. If your considering changing the shocks you might wanna consider the aluminum ones they just plain out work better....

The clear ones which come in the pro kit crack really easy. For me, its rare to see a seasoned mini driver with them on the car.

Those plastic ones you listed are fine for a cheap shock. They use plastic ride height adjusters as opposed to a threaded collar.

If you are allowed after market hop ups you may also want to consider using some of the other alloy brands such as 3racing if you are on a budget.

It acts as a heat sink so you motor will run cooler...and looks good so your car will LOOK cooler.

What size pinion and spur are you guys running with the silver can motor for your mini coopers? Getting ready for TCS. Thanks!

You can't change the spur as it's part of the gear set. Most if not all of us are using 20T for the pinion.
