To avoid a lot of frustration, start with the aluminum steering and the aluminum front steering uprights. While the kit parts don't break, they do bend very easily. It will drive you crazy and if you are a newbie you won't figure out why your car doesn't work right.
The 3Racing steering bits work okay and are much less than the Tamiya parts. I've never used the 3 racing Steering uprights so can't tell you if those are any good or not.

I just wanna thank you for your help at the tamiya track 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure if you remember me..you let me drive your car and gave me a lot of good feedback on my mini. Well my M05 is really planted now. Thanks for making my day fun at the track. See you in a couple of days for the TCS.

Also a good friend competed at the Worlds with an 03 and he claims his 03 was as fast, but he did not get the set up down until the last day. He managed to qualify, but it took some help from one of the local "gurus" to do it. Again, something else to consider.
I have both and like them both. Maybe the answer to the original question is to get both and make up your own mind. The kits are not expensive and electronics and shocks can be moved from one car to the other.

We have a blast out there. This past Tuesday was a little light, but we've had up to 9 M chassied cars out on a given night.
The M04 will get you a little more top end then an M03...I think you can run a bigger pinion in them. I've heard they're a little touchier to drive too being RWD and all. they don't seem to corner as well as the M03 or M05. I have the M03 right now and it's working well for me. I'd get the M05 if I were to buy another car right now.

Okay---found an M05 at Stormer hobbies for 119--it's "in the mail" as they say!!! I'll start building it for Tuesday nights!!!! Another "Target" coming to the track!! That is----IF ya can catch me!!! Hohoho--
Gotta get the 05 "setup tips" from someone who knows???? HELP!!!!

So does anybody know anything about the Xevo adjustable arm kit for the Chariot conversion kit pictured below? I picked up one of the conversion kits for my old M03 from Speedtech and the conversion came with the adjustable arms, but no pictures or instructions on how it goes together. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Also one thing to note if anyone is planning on picking one of these conversions up. You have to get the M05 ball diff. The bulkheads were re-drilled for flanged 15x10 bearings to accept the new diff. The older ta03, manta ray and gear diffs will work however with a little ingenuity. Get two 5x10 bearing and press them into the center of the 15x10 bearings. It's not a super tight fit with the two bearings, but it's snug enough to work until the new diff arrives next week.

Grandpa, I agree with you.
M05 = better front end geometry, lower cg, low nose bodies, and option on M05 ball diff.
M03 = lighter weight box stock, easier to assemble, change wheelbase and maintain.
either is lot's of fun!

M04L servo
Hi all,
I'm going to be getting a M04L Beetle in the next couple of days and will need a servo.
Can anyone let me know if the Futaba S3003 will fit?
I'm also open to any other suggestions. This is my first mini so I'm pretty much a newb here.

I'd love to be able to run one of those "Monster" Mini Cooper bodies--with the big flares. Anyone know where I can find them---and if' they'll fit on the 05??

Do a search on ebay for "Jasons store" He is out of Japan and has the bodies. Cost is around $40 plus $16 shipping(?), but that is the only place I know of to get them.

I just broke a carbon fiber part in the xevo ff conversion. Its an L shaped part in the front that connects the c-hub with the shock. What do you suggest what should i do. It happened while i was building the kit. I am rreally desperate because i was just about to test it tomorrow! I am in need of suggestions! Thanks!!!

I wonder about the quality of Xevo converion now. I bought one and the upper shock mount ball doesn't have a thread. Had to go back to LHS and and they took one out from another kit. May be you can do the same thing and hopefully they'll give you another one?.

thanks! i had a part missing from i first of all... so i dont really trust the xevo kit anymore.
