I would like to ask you a question about this? Are you sure it is not the servo that is not re-centering?

Do you have a plastic geared servo or a metal geared servo?

I have found many many many times that people use a 3mm screw in a plastic geared servo, when it should have been the 2.6mm screw. What this error does is swell the plastic gear into the servo case and not allowing it to center properly. Once the larger screw had been installed it will usually have the same problem even though the crew is removed. Take your screw out and take your servo horn off and verify that the servo is re-centering. even put the screw back in the servo and verify as well.

Like I said I have seen this so many times, even by experianced racers.

could I use an SWB M03 chassis on my M04M to make a M04 SWB? I read the write up on making a rear drive M03. seems like that should work. any comments the body availibility for the long or even mid wheelbase is slim pickings. just an idea. btw maybe you guys could help me pick a speed controller for my car. which ones do you guys most commonly use? I would like to be able to run a traxxas 20 turn stinger motor like I was wanting to earlier. thanks.

Will be track testing my car tomorrow and will do a comparison of laptimes between 03 n 05. So far, I am fairly impressed by the fact that the steering does not have that massive a slop.

Well the 05 Pro initial build is finished. I've added some extra comments and my thoughts about the car so far onto the site this morning.

I certainly don't think I'll be retiring my M03's just yet....

I have some comments to make you think about tonight on your comparisons.

1. the bell crank system should help to eliminate the bump steer, can you give you thoughts?

2. Your comment is that all the suspension is M03. from what I can see from the pics. it is not the M03M/R cause that uses the 1050 bearing. and it is not the standard M03 cause it is not the TL01 parts. Is that correct. But the fact that you can substitue is a good thing for all of us that have so many of the older spare parts.

3. It appears that is might be fairly complicated to install the rear sway bar (once it is released) can you offer your thoughts>

4. You made a comment about the lay down shocks. My guess is that they are that way to soften the feel. they are similar to the M04, and seeing as the weight of the servo is not as high you shouldn't need to have the suspension as hard in the front.

5. Do you see any easy way that this could be easily converted to a rear drive car?

I think I may hold off on buying one for a few weeks, unless it turns out to be a corner straightening monster.

I'll be doing some direct photographic comparisons tonight if I get time, but certainly most of the suspension although not EXACTLY the same (new mouldings etc) is interchangeable with an M03.

The whole 'bump steer' thing I never found an issue with the M03 anyway. Our theory being that if you had bump steer, your suspension was so far out of whack anyway that you had far more serious issues!
That said, the angles on everything on the 05 setup do eliminate it pretty much.

The lay-down shocks? I'd pretty much guarantee it's solely to lower the front of the car. Thats the main reason they did this car in the first place.The 'softening' of the suspension is a by-product, not the raison'd'etre of the end result.

RWD? Can that idea...not without MAJOR work...

Sway Bar? Not sure. I had a quick glance and it didnt look easy on the rear. But I'm confident the front M03 one might even go straight on.

I'll do some more on the car tonight and post up what I see. It's all still too new to say anything definitively.

Tell you all one thing for sure though. The M05 is so far ahead of the HPI Switch that it's not funny.... Ha!
