Hmmmmm, fraid I have to disagree on that one...
THIS is what we recommend.
Bottom line, the stock plastic stuff does just as good a job for a lot less. The 'adjustability' on the 'R' is just for show as none of the other settings are worth using anyway! All our cars are at standard settings.

that's works to if you wanna hunt for those parts. the m03r comes with most of that stuff and more. also it comes with some parts that you can't buy separate. for one price. buy body, shocks, tires and your set.IMO

+1 on the M03R...
...bodies are FAR cheaper then the cost of the upgrades to make a standard M03 into an M03R. And it seems from previous posts on this thread (and others) that any MINI CVA damper is just as good as the aluminum version, except that the clear blue plastic is a little more stiff/brittle then the standard black plastic of the MINI CVA 50746 and thus a little harder to snap on the ball connector. Besides, you're gunna replace a body a gajillion times, better to have the better goodies underneath. If you don't like the blue or smoke tint to the chassis on the 'R', a quick trip to you local Home Depot gets you a jug of denatured alchol for like $4 which will remove the tinting paint without hurting the chrome finish underneath.

You guys forget, what we recommend people buy is what they NEED, not what they want...
M03M - $80, Shocks $25, Springs $8, Bearings $8 - Total $116
M03R - $125, Shocks $25, Body, $25 - Total $170
(All prices from the one HK based outlet)
Ignoring tyres which you need for both cars anyway.
$54 difference. Buys you a lot of other stuff.
Yes the R has the shiny alloy stuff, but you DON"T NEED IT... The standard plastic parts on the 'M' and the Latest LWB are just as strong.
I got no problem with someone buying an 'R' if they want all the bling, but it's not necessary and more importantly - it isn't any quicker.....

know one NEEDS a chrome plated m03 chassis or a blue/chrome plated OR see-thru chassis but people to WANT it.
every m03 is the same. its all tires/driver. but to have cool little tricked out mini is a WANT and i want it and you want it.
having something with bling is a lot of braging rights. and it just "looks" cool.
so why not go all out.
but its been said already.... getting a used hopped up mini.... sad.... but people give them away for ¢.

are the clear blue mo3r shocks really that bad? i put a set on my kids mini & they haven't broken them yet, the car has had some decent hits too.

SWITCH - That's just what HPI are hoping legions of M03 fans will do when this car is released soon.
But info has been scarce so far. What's the wheelbase? What's the deal with the weird wheel fixings, where are the shocks? and most importantly of all, are the gear ratios similar to the M03?
We've seen one, we've actually touched one (haven't driven it - YET)

Well...I'd suggest they told you wrong.
Certainly HPI Australia are getting them. They have the 1 we saw plus 2 others, and they have a shipment arriving in 2-3 weeks.
Maybe..just maybe it's not going to the US? Which would be insane.
