I've been using a Futaba 9550 which is the one with the shorter, low profile case. These are no longer available but I think the replacement one is a 9551?
This is probably overkill for a mini, but I had one from my Touring car and it is really nice...quick and snappy.

Looking for advice on a steering servo. I think mine is slowing down, and it was never a fast servo to start with.
Can anyone offer any advice as to what would be a good, quick servo, but still priced within reason? As a way of offering reference, I'll say that a servo that costs more than $100 is not reasonable, especially for a mini.

I have a question regarding servo savers. Mine is broken and I can't get a Tamiya one in time for the weekend, but I can get an "Eagle" brand one.
The distance from the centre of the servo to the holes are the same, but the holes are further apart, meaning the steering turnbuckles would have to be shorter. Would this have any effect on the handling? Has anyone tried it, as I would imagine it would have an effect on ackermann.

well i will forget about the arms....
guys, how can i make my sport tune faster, its not new anymore, about 30mins runtime... how can rebuild with out taking it out....i still cannot accept that a sliver can 540 its faster than my sport tune....
also how much does your average mini weight? i know TAC rulling minimum weight its 1350g, i understand heavy won't flip. but when use lipo flip like its gone mad..

I currently run a MO3L with a BL system. My car with a Power tube 4200 pack weighs in at 1540 gms. I like the car at this weight.
When I fitted a Yeah racing Lipo, (200 gms) to my Mini, I added another 210 gms of lead to bring it back up to 1501 gms. I have found the car to be just as well balanced at this weight.
To add the lead, I used lead flashing cut into strips to add into the groove in the battery, this covers 150 gms and then I placed 60 gms directly behind the battery in the chassis extension, as close to the battery slot as possible.
The other contributing factor maybe the setup on your radio. You might also want to turn down the response time of your steering exponential to minus 30 or 40 so that when you move the wheel, the car reacts to the input slower and does not turn as sharply.
This works for me. I also only use 55mm diameter tyres, spice rears and ride fronts.

Mine is 1400g with the front bumper weighing 65-70 grams to stop rolling

MINI SERVO
I use a digital servo in my Mini which is not really necessary. I know of a lot of racers who are still using the 3003 servo's in their Mini's.

Wow. 1500 grams?
My Cooper weighs about 1200 with a Lipo but rollovers are not a problem at all. And that's with a Red Dot motor. Of course, we use Tamiya tires so they might just be sliding more than the ones you guys run...

thanks for the weight inputs, i guess i will try to make 1500g to start with, but at 1500g running bl its not a problem, but what if you are running sliver cans or sport tunes, as compare to a lighter car, the speed would be big different??
sorry for my newbie question, i was fed up with this car so many times and wanted to sell if off, but its not sold until today, and its getting more attention than my other R/C....
