That's what I was thinking. Jeff does a far better job than my mis guided efforts. At least it was different. Overspray, runs in the paint, etc.

Will be giving him a shell tomorrow.

I still like the colours.

Went for another practice for the State Titles, looks like we all have the same speed, will come down to the usual: batteries and driving.

Anyone have a tip on how to remove the metal shields from the small 5x8 tranny bearings, the retaining clip is real small on those and I can't seem to find the right tool to get them out. xacto blades break, pins are too big...

Got a tip anyone?

Use a hypodermic needle (the sharp side) use like a needle like a diabetes patient uses they are real small. I use 2 one for each side of the clip and just ease it out.

1) A larger diameter tire will give you more top speed, while sacrificing acceleration. You may also experience more traction roll.

2) I apologize for being a smartass, but the best solution is to stop crashing into the boards. I had the same problem. I broke countless plastic knuckles, bent a bunch the the 3Racing ones, and I've even got marks on my Tamiya M03R knuckles from the motor. Now I don't crash as much, and stuff doesn't break.

3) You can gain a little grip by shortening the upper link on the front of your mini. I don't know by how much, but if you find an adjustable link kit, set it to it's shortest setting and work from there.

And my turn... (although Jim was pretty much on the money)

1) Touring Car wheels will ruin your handling, the car will tip over in corner and they totally stuff up all your suspension settings. Yes it will go faster, no it wont go around corners.

2) Sounds cruel, but Jim was right - stop hitting things. I haven't seen a broken steering link for years and years. And I have never broken one myself.

3) Yes I used an M03R rear camber link on the 'build-up' car. However, it's set to standard length... Your camber will change depending on your ride height anyway. We all leave ours set at standard length because the original moulded plastic links are the strongest.

The distance in the front links are too short to really make them adjustable. By the time you cut down the ballend cups to give room for adjustments only a couple threads from the threaded rod get screwed into each cup.

Touring foams can be made to work if you cut them down. Mine are cut down to 53mm. No problems with rollovers on carpet.

If you use the 3Racing adjustable turnbuckle set, and have the front links at their shortest, you do get some negative camber. The part number is "M03M-04 64".

If you're running at a track that uses TCS rules however, you're out of luck.

thanks for all the fabulous reply, i got a very general idea what to do,

here we use 1/10 foam because we ran on rough asphalt surface, also most minis drivers here are also Nitro 1/10 drivers, usually they will use the left over foam on the mini...we really lower down our mini to make it fit the big tyres... our usual foam thickness its about 3 to 4 mm off rims...

as for me, i don play nitro, so free recycle foam tyre for me.....

most driver here drive their mini with ezrun 9 t brushless....so the impact damage its sky high...

as for me, i am still with stock tamiya esc and black can......very slow compare to them... i have all the bl systems also, but god know when i will run them.....

advise taken, will run more practise run to find out....thanks....

I have an old HPI VW GTI body stuffed into a box in my closet somewhere...I did do some searching a while back and found a place that was selling an even older MK1 VW GTI - I can't remember where I found it though - it was a foreign R/C Drift web-site...It looked pretty good too! I was going to buy one, but it was like $40 and that was ON-SALE??? If I get some time I will try and search around and find it again...

I just finished this mini for Tony Porter at Harris r/c in Tasmania. Based on a Chevron Monster Mini shell (SWB)

It incorporates the Battery Boy character that I designed for them a few months back.
