As for bodies that are "easily" available in N. America. The HPI Miata is pretty easy to find...I think that's it for easy to find RWD bodies. You could always use a FWD shell on your RWD, if your club allows it. I did this with an HPI Civic.

Come to think about it, I think I've read somewhere on the tamiya website that they never made a m04 because in real life there was never such a small RWD car in actual scale size SO I JUST ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION!!! :lol oops...
So the hpi miata will fit a backwards m03l? Or m03m?
Does anyone know what bodys came with the m04m and th3e m04l?
I have the m04l but I lost the spacer and its its been wrecked for most of its life! I also have an old bmw raodster body. But looking forward for that Backwards..M03B!

M-04M came with the Alfa Romeo GT Junior GTA and Mazda Miata MX-5 / Eunos Roadster
M-04L came with Honda S2000, Mercedes Benz SLK, BMW Z3 Roadster, Volkswagen Beetle and Porsche Boxster

this is the body we are running now in mini class we were running hpi honda civic then went to express mrr2 body .the swift body is good it will right itself up when rolled the swb body dosent unless you give a lot of throttle to it.4 out of 10 times

Nothing wrong with old age, that's one thing money can't buy. Personally, I'm not sure which I prefer. I have one of each now, I'll be using the BMW in the TAC race at the weekend but will probably run the Swift at the State titles the following weekend.

Jeff,
I ran the MO3L last weekend at Whalan and I think it is the better chassis. Sunday was bloody hot and I found my rear Pits screaming after two minutes, they came off the track very warm and induced some rear end slide. I think I was running D25's when I should have run firmer insert D30/35's.
However I have next week off work, so will be doing some private testing to find the right setup.
I wanna be a contender in the state titles. I can tell you GregF is fast and smooth.
For TonyG, that means the proper tyres.

I'm trying to think of an easy gearbox to use to scratch build a front wheel drive mini. I'm thinking maybe the belt rear gearbox from the HPI RS4 but I'm not sure if the arm mounts are the right width for the mini arms. I'm not so worried about the length, that can be worked with. My other concern is if the spur gear may be too high to fit under the bodies properly.
