TOny, did the bicycle inner tubing thing come from Tim? :D Haha, shit, i should have patented that technology to hold the batteries well and securely. hahaha...

I cant recall who started it. We were using rubber bands initially and switched to the inner tubes a few years back.

Hey Tony,

Need some Tamiya Alfa pics for the site?

This one is a stock M04 other than adding bearings. It even has the stock Tamiya esc. It was painted to resemble an Alfa that has been vintage raced several years now in the NW United States. I took the pic a few years ago as I always thought it was very handsome. Certainly not "cliche red" as most Alfas tend to be.

Whaddaya think?

A fine idea...might slip those in on the next update.... I'm a big fan of 'old school' looks. Possibly because I'm too old myself....

Scottrik 03-17-2007 10:07 PM

If you need any different pics feel free to ask.

Forgot to mention another "stock Alfa" deviation. This one is obvious, though. I installed Mini Monte Carlo Rally wheels as they're spot on for the original. Love the Campagnolo wheels, but had to model close as I could.

Hey Guys,

Here are some pics of my Tamiya M04 Alfa, I also stayed away from the traditional Alfa Red and personally I like the outcome. It also has the "old school" classic feel and looks awesome out on track.

Wow! The Swift is popular huh? Or maybe the 03M is popular.

Tim K 03-18-2007 09:28 PM

Yes, the Swift seems very popular, but why are so many people running it?

Has anybody tested the M03M Swift combo to see if it is faster? Or is everybody running it because it happens to be the latest kit?

I run the new suspension components because they are stronger than the old plastic knuckles, and lighter than the alloy knuckles.

I'm not really a fan of the Swift body though, seems a bit too tall for me, and the mini wheels don't really fill out the guards, just seems out of proportion … doesn't have the classic mini look about it either :)

What are everyone elses thoughts? Maybe we need a vote? Classic Mini or Swift body?

At TCS Seattle the first Swift was 5th. 1rst 3rd and 4th were shorts and second was a long.

I like the SWB minis but the swift kits the best for value and I guess if the body is there then use it. Here's my monster mini again with matcing yellow Spice 5 spoke rims..

tony gray 03-18-2007 10:51 PM

I vote for Swift kits, then sell the body off to someone with 'less discriminatin taste...' and slap an old school Mini shell on.
The Swift shells suck! Like the real car, do NOT like the Tamiya one.

K_Spec_RC 03-19-2007 12:22 AM

Im having trouble with the Tamiya ESC that comes with the RTR (TEU-101BK) When I turn it on, it beeps twice and then pauses and starts beeping constantly. I cannot steer the car or anything. I have tried everything I can think of (switched wires on motor, little red wire plugged in or not plugged in, connecting it to the receiver diferently, ect...) and still no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Keith
