Very saddened to hear of Grandpa's passing, he was a great help to me when I got back into RC racing and was always willing to point me in the right direction no matter how simple the question.

A true gent.

May he rest in peace.

Very sad news.
I allways enjoyed reading Granpa's comments and learnt a lot from his tips! My condolances to Grandpa's family and friends.

So it's been over a week since the last time I drove my RC cars.. Times goes by too fast and continues to accelerate exponentially.

Cherish every moment you have with your family and friends. ..oh and with your RC cars.

Very sad to hear. Granpa helped me a great deal in my early days in Mini. Stoked to have known and run with him. RIP Brother.

This, my friends, is why we treat our batteries well and store them safely.

This pack was well maintained, balanced and stored properly. I was peeling the remains of a sticker off the back of it last night when it made a little "pop" sound and a lump appeared on the underside of the pack. I stuffed it in the ammo box and put it outside. This morning it was still okay. About ten minutes ago, it did this. Not sure if it was the heat or the fumes, but it melted the paint from the inside of the ammo can.

So, if you've got batteries that are old and puffing up, or experience any sudden changes in behaviour (or shape) get them stored safely someplace that's not in your house.

It should also be noted that this was an older pack that has seen many, many race days. It's still taking a 2 week salt water bath, regardless.

Wow, that's some scary stuff there, monkeyracing! I store my batteries in those safety charge bags and store those bags into my metal fire trash can as back up... but not sure if even that is enough.

I also have these red silicone oven mitts and a big metal pot near by too just in case I need to quickly carry them outside. Never know when one might go awry.

Respect in spades for the passing of Granpa Bob.
One of the few people (OK maybe Jim Evans as well) who actually worked out that half the time we were taking the piss....

rc-mini salutes you Sir.
