I have a question about springs.
I have the short white springs that come with the trf kit. The ones with a red, yellow or blue dot on them. Are these different to the all red, yellow or blue? What other springs are there, if any?

red = soft,
yellow = medium,
blue = hard.
They've made springs that are white with dots of colour, black with dots of color, or solidly coloured. Generally, the springs that are shorter, like the ones you have. are about the same and very good quality.
Tamiya also made a slightly longer, fluorescent coloured set of springs for the mini. They are always on the softer side compared to the other sets.

So to clarify;
White with a yellow dot would be the same as black with a yellow dot which would be the same as solid yellow?

The idea behind the White with dot etc is to make it harder for your competition to know what you're running.

I thought each type was a different compression rate all together? I have seen many say that white w/dot then followed solid color then by black w/dot. I can say by looking at the white w/dot and black w/dot that the wire thicknesses are different which would in all my other hobby experiences means different compressing rates.
So this sound right or no?

I don't know of any other black short springs with dot. If you do, please post part number

The 42168 are the ones I am referring to. The ones I have appear to be painted just like the others. Here is a side by side pic of all 3 types of red springs. The Flouro red came with my 54000 shocks and the white/red came with my v2 pro.

3 Tamiya red springs. 3 different lengths. 3 different compression rates. Gotta love Mini racing!

Ride also make M chassis size springs which are black with red, yellow and blue dots similar to the Tamiya springs with a different compression rate.

HA, -this has frustrated me in the past too.

The flourescent red in your picture appears to be a standard tc length spring. I own the flourescent red shorts, and theyre the same height as the White with dot

It is the same size as the blacks. They came with the Ted 54000 mini shocks. I also have a set of the white with red dot the same length that also came on those shocks.

Thanks guys, so we agree that they are all different, but we still don't seem to be any clearer on how they compare. I wish tamiya had this info available.
