It's possible to change the parts around, but it might also be cheaper to find a used rolling chassis in the for sale section. You'll have more spare parts when something breaks.

I got a 9T in my TL-01 its fast and works nicely, but it might have a too high gearing.
The 13T EZRun is closer to a Blackcan motor. Good all around setup for the minis.

With the aluminum batter holder (part 54224) how does the battery stay in place?

Tape works better than the plastic brackets. Touring cars use it too.

the M05 batt holders are still pretty good, they offer some extra protection for the ends of the batt. It also fits a M03 & TL01.

Guys some questions for a M03 noob.

1) How/where can I buy the part (chassis extension plate) to make a MWB M03 a LWB M03?

2) Do Robinson 20t 0.6 pinions fit in stock M03?

3) Is a manta ray ball diff okay in a M03 for racing, as this is what came with my car.

Thanks..

1. 3Racing part number M03L-01/LB (about $11) is available at all the usual online retailers like rcmart, etc. The Tamiya part only ever came with complete chassis, that aren't too expensive anyway. (about $12-$15)

2. Yes. Highly recommended!

3. Yes. It is basically the same as the ta-03 diff, just heavier.

gday trackster , the extension pieces are available to buy in genuine tamiya parts ,

take a look at m-chassis.com for all you mini parts needs , Tim is based in melbourne and can post things if needed, his service and advice are excellent just ask any mini racer and they have more than likely heard of him or dealt with him,

i think the parts your after are about $8 add a few extra screws into the deal and your probably up for about $15 posted as a guess..

where abouts in sydney are you plannin to run at ?

My bad. Sorry. I've always thought those were included with complete chassis only.
