I think Bob Novak's point was that there's a limit to how much stronger you can make the magnet before you reach the stator's flux cycle limit, and start converting energy to heat instead of power. That's my non-EE understanding of it, anyway. If you go beyond that point, the excess heat will saturate the stator and actually hurt the performance of the motor as the race goes on.

I'm wondering if I'm experiencing this with the 13mm rotor in a 13.5. I prefer how the motor feels, but it seems to fade toward the end of the race if I gear it up high enough to be as fast as the 12.3mm rotor. In the end, it seems slower since gearing it properly (to avoid heat fade) doesn't produce the fastest on-track performance.

It's kinda funny...

We have an expert on the subject saying that at a certain point, too much is not better.

We have real-world results that too much is not better.

I say again, just because the rotor gets larger...that doesn't mean the car will go faster in a car, on a track. Even when geared up, it's not going to have the RPM range. If that's a still a problem for a couple of you...I don't really know what to say.

Life is about trade-offs. I like how mine feels and I can deal with having less big-end for the better infield driving. Is my car "more powerful" now or with the 12.3mm rotor?
