They should start mandating some kind of covered charging - like a lipo-sack or something...

I donīt know.
With 3 qualifiers out of 5 counting, you needed to have the car dialed right from the beginning, and I guess, he didnīt. But I donīt know what problems he have. In some heats, he rolled.

i was sitting next to the unlucky fellow. and the IB4200/corally batteries was from nov 2007, and had been charged 15+ times.
first they started hissing, and letting off steam for 5+ sec, and then they blew.
They burned a hole in Gilles sweatshirt.......

so...very unpredictable, but with plenty of warning.

The second pack went off the same way....

I have several Corally batteries with batchnumbers that we in Sweden have banned from using. Iīm not surprised if the packs that blew had one of those batchnumbers.

Iīve put those packs in a place were they wont hurt anyone: the city dump.

Back home since 3am this morning after a lovely 1000km drive... but this year it was definitely worth it, Kim and his team definitely organised a fantastic event! Very well done

Congratulations to all the winners and especially little Viktor for his first major win.

No matter how he changed the car, he still flipped in that corner, so it was tough.
Even Atsushi Hara have a weekend to forget. Actually, quite a lot of "fast and famous" have a tough weekend, and you find them all over the result list. But itīs also fun to see new guys doing well.
But no excuses. He will try harder again next time.
He will come to Snowbird, and I beleve he will race 19t, Mod & 1/12.

Other interesting stuff:
-I beleve Corally batteries beated Trinity with 3-1 in blown cells. Quite scary to be honest. They go off like bombs. One sended some stuff quite a distance only to burn a hole in Jilles Grosskamps brand new Tamiya sweater while he was woking on his car....

-Scotty was flaweless, as expected.
-The organizers have done a fantastic job with the whole event. Hats off to them.
Edit: Can only agrre to Jan Larsens post # 105 ( I read it too late...)
Were all Corally battery failures matched IBs or are they Corally branded cells. Was the Trinity battery and IB or EP?

It is great to see the new guys doing well. They seem to move up through the ranks and eventually reach the top level. We need to start seeing this in the U.S. instead of the new guys stalling out in 19T. We continue to fall further behind with every passing event.

Thumbs up RESULTS

I'd like to give a big thumbs up to the many DHI-Cup competitors who used (real) Protoform Racebodies on the weekend. A special congradulations to Teemu for his TQ and of coarse Viktor for his very impressive win! I really enjoyed the race videos - thanks Victor A for posting those.

I'm looking forward to the next time I have an opportunity to see you all race - in person.

Thank you for your support! - Dale Epp - Protoform
