The 5cell racing on the vids looks awesome. Not ridiculously uncontrollable fast like 6cell Mod is here in the States. Even the 19T..what they call stock..looks good in 5cell. Hoping that catches on more here in...

The race and coverage by Redrc.net is as good as it gets.

How many people can control and utilize 6cell mod in the world? Maybe 100? I think that's the reason it has died at the club level.

Great racing in the first A final in 19 turn. Check it out. http://www.rctv.dk/DHI_CUP_2008_A_Finale_Stock_01.wmv

This shows that slower speeds combined with better handling cars due to lower weight (5 cell) is the way to go for better racing.

moonman (Jamario?), for that switch - rubber 5cell - to happen on this continent, I think it is going to take guys who have also raced foam 6cell making their judgments heard. If there are guys who have done both and honestly believe rubber 5cell is going to make TC racing better, they need to start new threads here on RCtech saying exactly that.

Right now we have 'those guys over there' running a different type of TC racing. Maybe they are just Europeans with their own set of rules, lead by guys that make arbitrary decisions. Or, maybe they've found a key. There's no way for me, the local and regional racer, to know which is the case.

As I recall the outdoor Reedy race of Champions, did run 5 cell in the invite class. And still they had faster lap times than the open mod. So maybe it's not only the Europeans who have found a new set of rules

The 5 cell rule was needed and is producing much better racing. The cars are controllable and dont wear as much. 6 cell mod was roasting the cars.

The downside is that manufactures is pushing the cell technology to the limit now. 4 battery explosions and 3 very-close-to is still too much.

One particular explosion was so big is sent some of the fragments so fast through the air that is a bent the side of a toolbox (two tables away) and blew a hole in Jilles Groskamp's sweater. The rest of the fragments ended up on the 5th row of the spectator area. Approx 50 feet away. Scary and very dangerous. A miracle nobody got hurt.

Appart from that, it was a very well, professionably run event. Very first class track, great racing and great announcer in Scotty Ernst
