Default IB 4200 hissing / venting

I've used my IBs for about 4 months, NEVER charged them over 5A, and always discharged / condition them on my Novak Smart Tray.
Recently, I realized they start to vent / hiss when they were just about to peak.
Could someone PLEASE explain what exactly is happening inside the batts? With the recent spate of exploding IBs, the hissing noises are just freakin me out! LOL

That's when you know it's going to be a fast pack..

One cell is over charging now that the pack is older/softer. Change your peak setting so the charger stops charging just before the cell vents.

Typical IB. When your using IB cells you need to monitor the temp closely, IB tends to overheat relly easy. I haven't seen IB cells explode but I have a lot of IB cells that vent due to heat.

apparrently you previously hadn't listened to the cells, because when I ran IB cells about 50%+ of the time at least one of the cells gave a little belch..

The country where these cells are made, belching after a meal is a compliment to the chef.. They felt it was appropriate that after their batteries consumed a good charge that they do the same....

Just in case you didn't catch the sarcasm, the cell that was hissing is bad/dead.

I would pull that cell out of the pack and make it a 5 cell or remove the 2 worse cells and make it a 4 cell pack for the pan car guys(1/12th scale or 1/10th oval).

Be thankful they are venting. The reason so many 4200's have blown up is because of problem with the vents not operating properly to release the pressure that can build up.

a venting cell means there's something wrong with the cell.

someone had a cell exploded yesterday at the track too while running the car. however, there was no explosion sound and the car was perfectly alright, no scratch, no burn marks. and the battery just had it's terminal popped off. lucky for him.
